Will wind at 15 mph back up a 100 pound person under a 150?

With no lead? My exit weight was/is about 120 I backed up well atleast came strait down all the time under my 150 if the winds were over 15, and I never jumped if the winds were over 18. Or maybe more accurately if the wind sock was standing strait out, I was just hanging on the ground.

Remember. The winds that are "advertized" at the DZ are ground speed. 30 feet up, they may be significantly higher.

Oh exactly, I never actually landed backwards, but there is a sickening feeling at 50 ft and you are going backwards. Wait let me correct that I never landed backwards after I stopped jumping student gear.
Anyway winds are something we basically have to learn from experience, I was lucky I learned at a smaller DZ where everyone was family, so if someone said "I would reconsider jumping" I definately went back and looked at the winds, the direction, and how other people were landing. About 90% of the time I ended up pulling off the load. Still to this day I won't go up if don't think it is safe for me, even though thier are loads going up. It is odd though how when I say no I'm not going up the winds are to high or to turbulent, a bunch of other people pull themselves off loads.

Let's see - that's .8 to 1, or me under a 240 sq ft parachute. Under that parachute in a 15mph wind I would be backing up. Loading doesn't exactly translate to forward speed, though, so don't bet on that.

Same here... especially after I landed in 20mph winds once, backing up, then couldn't get that big ol' canopy down fast enough. I got drug across the landing area, the taxiway and into the airplane parking area before the canopy snagged on a tie down and I came to a stop. Man did that suck.

That's the problem. You never know when a video will come back to haunt you. Someday I'll be running for the school board or something and someone will produce this video and say something like "Is this you? Why aren't you wearing any clothes?"

Thinking of things Whuffos would buy.....my boyfriend and another guy did hop and pops, and after landing we were walking past a group of whuffos, when one asked why they got out early? My Boyfriend said cause the plane was to heavy so a few had to get out so the rest could get to altitude. Her responce was "Well that makes sence"....

No shit...we have a guy at our DZ that does this all the time. We'll take off and he'll ask the pilot if he's getting good climb and if the plane is loaded with a heavy set of jumps (we fly a C182 & C206) he says ok I"ll do H&P!!!!! and he gets out at like 4000 so the rest of us will climb to alt faster!! We've all told him to ride up with us and that we dont care if it takes longer but he says no I'll get out! OK DUDE its your jump!!

Now what's wrong with that? I have almost all the jumps that I have jumped on video, and I'm not going to erase them just because jump didn't go to well.
They are good memories you know. :) I'm not embarrased if someone laughs when he/she sees my jumping videos, as we've all been there, and those who haven't jumped, I just say try it yourself, makes them usually quiet.

Not at all - I have a lot of tapes where I suck, and they're some of my favorites. I'm more talking along the lines of a nude jump you did ending up in an X-rated video. Not that that would ever happen.
