tandem openings

Recommended Posts

Here is another question from South Africa.
I am jumping a Strong system with a set 400.
I have now 63 Tandem Jumps and enjoying them.
I have one problem that has sudenly appeared. On a perfectly stable freefall at 5500 feet i go for my primary, as i pull it feels as if i am going into head down and then the canopy starts to inflate and my and the pass feet almost pass our heads. What am i doing? is it body possition or is my pass harness incorrect. I have corrected this by backsliding and pushing my arms forward on dumping, but this does not feel right. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT.:$
TQ
I am me and you are you, so deal with it!!!

Are you using the old or new student harness? If improperly adjusted, the student harness can place your student's pelvis (and legs) far below yours, which will contribute to this effect. It can also tend to make you "potato chip" under the drogue, particularly with taller cargo.

After your post exit handle checks, grab the student by the hips and softly try to slide them forward. That moves mor drag up front.

At pull time, get whichever hand you're not pulling with WAY out in front of you, and after you pull get the otherone back out there. If the student pulls for you keep both out there.

Practice adjusting the student harness to hold them higher (more foward) on your body.

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Yes, getting your left hand HIGH above your head will balance out most of that head down tendency at pull time.
