JohnRich 4 #2 January 21, 2011 I don't have a clue, but it's got to be in the running for the ugliest plane ever made.
jonstark 8 #3 January 21, 2011 It looks like a ground effect weapon and a formidable one at that. Those look like torpedo tubes in top. Old radar would have had a problem detecting it roaring up on carrier group. One bad-ass machine there. jon

SCR216 2 #5 January 22, 2011 Hello Mark, It is a 1968, 300 MPH Russian Ekronoplan KM Loon. With 6 Anti Ship-missiles. Designed by Alexeeva. It could fly up to 60 feet above the surface of the water. Two large scale Ekronoplan platforms were manufactured. The KM in 1966 and the Loon in 1968. The project was stopped in 1968. You can watch the KM and the Loon fly by watching the following 3 videos: http://videosift.com/video/Russian-plane-that-flies-on-water-documentary The Loon will fly near the end of the third video. councilman24 37 #8 January 23, 2011 How many point can you turn from 60'? I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
SCR216 2 #9 January 23, 2011 If you are counting the turns below the surface of the water it will then depend on how long you can hold your breath. But by then you have put yourself in the situation where you must decide if you should open while you are still going down, or should you hold off until you are on your way back up? PROGRESSIVE 0 #11 February 9, 2011 I wouldn't fly in this thing, but I would certainly fish from it, drinking a bottle of Vodka! Pete
lodestar 0 #12 February 11, 2011 Now that I think of it, those missiles, when aimed at a nice reef, would produce some good fish.....just sayin'
