Jumpmasters, instructors, riggers...

Recommended Posts

Can anyone please explain me the difference between an instructor and a jumpmaster? And the difference between AFF and IAD? And what means back, chest, seat, lap (...) rigger?
Excuse me if these questions sound stupid - but here in Germany it seems to be different: S/L jumpmaster, AFF jumpmaster, Tandemmaster, AFF-/Tandem-Examiner etc. ... but nothing in between...
Thank you

Jumpmasters are a thing of the past. USPA did away with the rating in the first part of this year. It used to be a JM could do most but not everything an Instructor can do.
IAD is Instructor Assisted Deployment. Similar to static line, but the instructor throws the pilot chute.
