SEREJumper 1 #1 September 6, 2009 OK, I thought I know what this was, but I'm having second thoughts. My initial thought was this was an NAA mini system, but a few things have me thinking otherwise. No markings on the container. - It uses soft loops to close the container, not cones. - The reserve "V" rigs are a different style than what I have seen in the past. - It has more of a belly band, than a chest strap. http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e280/Gearpics/Unknown%20harness/We're not fucking flying airplanes are we, no we're flying a glorified kite with no power and it should be flown like one! - Stratostar
JerryBaumchen 1,466 #2 September 6, 2009 Hi SERE, I would vote for home-made. After Para-Flite came out with that 1-pin, nothing main container for the StratoStar a lot of people began to realize that this whole building a rig thing was not really rocket science. Some worked & some didn't JerryBaumchen
SEREJumper 1 #3 September 7, 2009 Jerry, Interesting, I forgot about the homemade stuff floating around in that era. That would certainly be a good reason for no TSO data! I forgot to add that it did contain a MK II PC in a POD.We're not fucking flying airplanes are we, no we're flying a glorified kite with no power and it should be flown like one! - Stratostar
councilman24 37 #4 September 7, 2009 Evidence of cones removed and soft loops installed? That's what I did with my Crossbow piggy back rig. The grommets in your photos look like cone grommets. Don't need no stinking chest strap. That's what the reserve is for.But your right. This mini system I found on google has a chest strap. But looks pretty good for home made. Including field packing eyelets on the pin protector flap for the the POB's I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
jimmytavino 16 #5 September 9, 2009 The angled pin cover makes me think it is a StyleMaster rig jmy
JerryBaumchen 1,466 #6 September 9, 2009 Hi jimmy, Not a StyleMaster. The SM had a 'very' boxy form to it. Not a 'rounded' form as this and most containers had; think about how a Minisystem main container is shaped. Also, this has the little eyelets for the bungies to hook into. The SM originally used standard bungies but they hooked into some very small d-rings. Strong later switched to some very thick elastic band material to replace the military style bungies originally used. These then hooked to the container via a clasp that was the same as used on a good pair of man's pants at the waistband. The elastic bands had the male end & the container had the female end stitched on. Sorry, I cannot describe the device. The SM never had that strange bellyband. But you are correct on the angled pin placement. That's one for you. I owned two SM's so I do remember them. JerryBaumchen
