SkydiveMonkey 0 #1 March 30, 2002 My friend had a 10,000 foot round reserve jump today as when we exited a 4 way, he caught the reserve pin on the door and pulled it out. Just a word of warning - it can happen !! I'm not crazy - I'm a Skydiver

SkydiveMonkey 0 #3 March 30, 2002 He was a big guy landing under a Lo-po (24 foot) so he landed quite hard and it winded him, but he's ok. Just pleased to be down. I'm not crazy - I'm a Skydiver

SkydiveMonkey 0 #5 March 30, 2002 If we all kept our grips, we would have had a 4 way Mr Bill from a round !!! That would have been good. I'm not crazy - I'm a Skydiver
amir1967 0 #6 March 31, 2002 Waho. you can get with C-182 to 10,000 ft.yesterday It took us about 8 min for the first 1000 ft it was just at the pomp and 45 min later we were still not at 9000 ft. it just takes too dam long .One of Our dropzone rulles C-182 go no higher than 9,000 ft (and even then it cost more than it brings)AmirAM67
AggieDave 6 #7 March 31, 2002 I've jumped at 12k from a 182 (it had wing extensions, so that helped a little), but what really comes into play is field elevation and wind condition."Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
mountainman 0 #8 March 31, 2002 Highest we got in the 182 was 11k. I'm looking forward to the Grand Caravan. JumpinDuo.com...come and sign the guestbook.
kwmontreal 0 #9 March 31, 2002 That is one tired c-182!! Should be about 20 min. to 10,000!!
SkydiveMonkey 0 #10 March 31, 2002 The pilot must have the thing way out of trim - we normally get to 10,000 in about 20 - 25 minutes. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or loose, its how drunk you get.
amir1967 0 #11 March 31, 2002 In that one (C-182) you do have more time than you need to get drunk while is climbing to alttitudbut that's for another forum I thinkAmirAM67

SkydiveMonkey 0 #15 March 31, 2002 About 60 I think. Stall speed can't be much below 55. When you participate in sporting events, its not whether you win or loose, its how drunk you get.
GroundZero 0 #16 March 31, 2002 Vy for the older straight tailed Cessna 182's... 89mph at sea level, 85mph at 5000 msl, 82 mph at 7500 msl, 80mph at 10000msl...The service ceiling on my 1956 is 20,100' and they do go that high... I ve dropped jumpers from flight level 210 at least 10 times... quickest time to 210 was 42 minutes, longest was 50 minutes... all with 4 jumpers. Everytime I file to drop jumpers, the controllers always challenge me and make bets, etc. (I do let them know where I can no longer maintain the 500 feet per minute... (usually around 13-14k).Gotta love them old 182's!Chris(Vy at 20,000 is about 60-65 mph, best I recall...)

Hrm, that is what the owner/other jump pilot tells me to climb at.. we have a 56 straight tail 182. I got so bored today that I was riding thermals all the way to altitude and shaved around 4 minutes off the climb. Also did some RW work with a tandem while I was in the airplane, now THAT was fun.--~Captain CutawayI can disassemble a rig in less than 5 seconds...
