DB Cooper Number

Recommended Posts

Please don't kill me for asking this. I'm new to the sport and diving into its history.

I've been reading about DB Cooper. I'm getting sucked into the mystery of the facts and circumstances.

I've seen a few people on the internets talking about "their DB Cooper Number". What's a DB Cooper Number?

Is it a number of a theory as to what happened in a general archive? Or is there some rogue group of skydivers who do some crazy $hit and then get a number?

(As if all skydivers weren't rogue, but you understand I hope)

Thanks & blue skies

There was a time when if one made a jump from a 727, they received a DB Cooper number. Not sure at what time frame that issuance of the DB Cooper number fell by the wayside.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

It would be nice to get a 727 for an event. Looks like lots of airlines are going to be upgrading due to sky high Jet-A. Maybe soon there will a bunch of them sitting around with no lessees and we can borrow one again. :)

The FBI has a real Cooper suspect list that is numbered, but it has not been released to the public. I'd bet Many skydivers are on the list. We know Ted Mayfield is on the list.

Sure would be sweet, but Don Kirlin, Mr. 727 jumpship, was not able to pull it off at the last few WFFC's. 727's are real fuel hogs and require a flight engineer. Still, they have a top speed higher than more modern airliners in trhe same weight class. Donald Trump owns TWO of them.

Let's keep the actual DB Cooper discussion limited to the thread already devoted to it please.
