councilman24 37 #10 June 11, 2008 But if I count right it's not a 7 TU as the photo is labeled. Seems to be 10 or 11 TU?I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
mjosparky 4 #11 June 11, 2008 QuoteBut if I count right it's not a 7 TU as the photo is labeled. Terry, It is a 7-TU. It was my first canopy. But they would not let me jump when I first bought it. It was to high performance. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
councilman24 37 #12 June 11, 2008 Take another look at the photo. I count 8 modified gores and still haven't gotten to the next tall mod. I'm I counting wrong?I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
drjump 0 #13 June 11, 2008 I agree, looks like a "9-TU", but the cuts are very high. Must have had a great turn rate, fantastic rate of decent, and little forward speed.

That is a picture of me landing my first canopy. A 7-TU. I made over 100 jumps on it. And yes it did land a bit brisk. AirCav 0 #16 June 11, 2008 The 7 comes from the number of cells cut between the main drive panels. The panels on the outside of the drive panels are turn windows. Neither the drive panels nor the turn windows are counted. The Total number of panels cut on a 7TU are 11. Seven center, two drive and two turn windows. The toggles were attached between the drive window and turn window.GW685,D3888,C5052,SCS843

councilman24 37 #18 June 12, 2008 You know, for some reason for all these years I thought the 7 was the total cut panels. But know that you correct me, maybe I did know that a long time ago.I never owned a rag. But my first 8 jumps were on one and I put out hundreds of students on them. Guess I never learned how to count. Thanks, Terry I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
