skyjack71 0 #33826 August 25, 2012 Does this name mean anything. Maurice Knudson - remember Knudson was a name Duane mentioned having known in WA. Now I know my memory was NOT that flawed. I kept trying yrs ago to spit it out the name with sound alikes. Now who was Maurice Knudson? Evidently he lived in WA at one time. Another name popping up Pennington. Anyone know a former jumper (perhaps recreational) perhaps in GA or VA? Snitscher (not sure of the spelling) I believe Phil or Paul is the first name. Had WA connections.Copyright 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 2013, 2014, 2015 by Jo Weber
BobKnoss 0 #33827 August 25, 2012 Quote Note was sent to the LA Times on Dec 14 1971...supposedly from D.B. Cooper. I believe below is the decoded message. IT does NOT work with random numbers. It is done in patterns - like smilies w/eyes he uses 7 as the turn around number because it was the month his life would forever be changed - he became an outcast from his family and unemployable - he had no choice but to become a career criminal... 7698QA2753 (the code provided to the paper from Cooper). I am repeating this because I got the last 2 number turned around when I typed it into the thread a long time ago. Army 35608905 Navy 283-56-96 Example use the Navy number 283-56-96 versus - 7698QA2753 July was the 7th month and the day the he was dismissed as an undesirable. Why 7 is the turn around number. 96 last 2 #'s in Navy #'s Use 7 and reverse 96 to 69 gives you 7 69. Use the same on the last two number of the code - 53 becomes 35 after the turn around number. giving you 7 53 now you have 7 69 and 7 53 Q is Question - A is Answer. The 8 and the 2 reversed are the 1st 2 number of his Navy number This equates to 769 8 QA 2 753. The same system works on his Army number. 35608905 7698QA2753 3560 - 8905 Reverse 35 to get 53 Reverse 89 to get 98 so now you have xx98QAxx 53 July is 7th month 7x98QAx753 versu left x6xxQA2xx 2 is the first number of the Navy 6 is the last number of the Navy reverse their order 7698QA2753 Now U guy dismissed this, but it is all about smilies and it is a not a joke or me putting things together. Why DON"T ONE of you sharp researchers check the Los Angeles Times and see if they actually received a note from Cooper on the above date. I do NOT have the capabilities to do so, but made a phone call speaking with the oldest journalist there a few yrs ago. He was polite but not interested enough to dig into the archives to see if such a letter existed. Surely now with all of the new technology someone can check the archives of the paper before and after the date I have and see if this letter to the paper actually existed. Remember the code written in the back of Duane's old book with the Chicago number in it? I asked Duane the numbers written right above it. I do not remember what he told me other than a code he had to use. I do NOT know if the CODE provided to the Los Angeles Times are the same numbers that were in the back of that book - very last page with the XYZ. I do NOT have a photographic mind - but a good memory. I also do not know if this is a hoax and someone messing with my mind. The source was legitimate - and the only person with access at that time to the Navy # and the Army # was Sluggo and the FBI. NOW someone disprove that NO newspaper ever received this code. Very interesting. Everything is backwards. Sounds familiar~

mrshutter45 21 #33829 August 25, 2012 Jo, none of the letters have been proven to be from Cooper, 4 letters total were sent and none had any "code numbers" on them, how could the Government allow a coded number in someones Military numbers? why would thy even do this years before the crime? you need to link things to actual evidence, I realize that the letters are considered evidence but so is the 1500 other people claiming there grandfather was Cooper. you are trying to link numbers to something that possibly has nothing to do with Cooper. the letter in question right now is the one where the guy linked the clippings used in the letter to things that happened with the hijacking, Bourbon ad, Raleigh Cigarettes , Playboy magazine cover and so on. sometimes it easy to link things up, this is what Marla did, I think she read about McCoy's jump and then put a twist on it to fit here story, she claimed that LD landed 7 miles from his Home while McCoy landed 5 miles from his home. LD lived in Eugene which was in the flight path so do we now believe Marla's story? why not the link is right there, right? he also lived in Reno so we could assume he jumped 7 miles before the plane landed and would be close to his house in sparks."It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.' I would add the black tie to the list as found in DB Cooper Decoded. All of these things were not known to the public until after the four letters were sent to the newspapers. This hints at the letters being valid DB Cooper letters and not just something from a crank. This really makes it important that the FBI get the DNA from under the envelope flaps/stamps as this is the last remaining evidence the FBI has and not looked into. If there is a match with the DNA on file for Sheridan Peterson, that places him at the scene of the crime and not in Nepal as his perfect alibi indicated. Caught in a lie to the FBI could put him in jail for the rest of his life as he is 86 at this time. The jail time could be used to get a confession in the DB Cooper case. This DNA is the "Smoking Gun" to solving the case and we hope the FBI gets going on obtaining the DNA as it will blow the case wide open. The cost of obtaining the DNA would be less than $1,000 and would solve this perfect crime finally after 40 years. So once you've got DNA that would associate this 86 year old man with the letter-writing, you'd want to put him in prison for the rest of his life because he lied about being in Nepal - so you could try to get a confession? That's interesting. If you can "prove" that the letters were written by him based on the spit on the envelope, then why not just charge him with the crime and try him for that? Doesn't he basically confess in the letters? I've got a feeling, just a feeling, mind you, that no one will ever serve any time for this crime. Not saying that crime should go unpunished, you understand, and call me cynical, but imho, a lawyer would love the PR he'd get from defending this one.....and DB would probably finally end up with all the money, beautiful women, and tiki huts that he could handle. but....A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.....Winston Churchill
Farflung 0 #33833 August 25, 2012 That ‘Decoded’ letter makes no mention of any ties. A single letter (the dub-ya) was cut from an article about bow ties which was then morphed into a black tie, then morphed into a clip-on tie, then offered as the only alternative to the tie Cooper wore, which was found on the plane. That’s a massive number of assumptions and leaps of logic to arrive at that conclusion. It would have been exponentially easier to say “The letters were constructed from a Playboy magazine, which features Bunnies wearing clip-on ties”. Instead a meandering and convoluted path, paved with broad sweeping assumptions was chosen to augment the author’s ‘Silence of the Lambs’ persona, where he had MrShutter45 trying to guess his identity while cooking up some fava beans. Who would engage in such behavior that is above the age of 22 and not a psychotic? But cold readings have entertained and fleeced millions of people who were waiting with bated breath, to be told what they wanted to hear. I wonder if there is some more clues which can be ‘Decoded’ from the ignored but famed Playboy letter. Playboy magazine was named after the Playboy automobile which featured a Continental engine typically used in aircraft. This was Cooper’s way of hinting that he hijacked an airplane. Playboy magazine also owned a DC-9 which featured an aft set of stairs which were used by hijackers. This was another of Cooper’s hints. This was unique to Playboy. Hefner has the same number of letters as Cooper. This no doubt, was the inspiration for his name selection. Mucklow has the same number of letters as Playboy. Clearly Cooper knew who he was going to hijack in advance. Placard has the same number of syllables and letters as Playboy. The emergency placard was thrown by Cooper as a clue that a letter would arrive, made from a Playboy magazine and literally fall into the laps of newspaper publishers. There simply is no denying this staggering implication. I will continue my brilliant decoding efforts…. Clarice, but you must tell me something first, quid pro quo….. What was Cooper doing in the lavatory for such a long time and alone? Could this have involved a Playboy magazine too Clarice? My fava beans are ready. Farflung 0 #33835 August 25, 2012 You’re right MrShutter45, the name should be altered which embraces the collective experience on this thread. ‘Silence of the Scams’ would be a good counterpoise with lashings of irony since these scammers are anything but silent. Let’s face it, Hannibal was far more intelligent than anything associated with DB Cooper. I like the concept of using ‘National Treasure’ where little disjointed clues are deciphered just in time, but it lacks the texture that inhabitants on this thread have supplied. So I would combine it with a film that features a town, populated with detached and corrupt citizens, who are beholding to some criminal sexual sadist like ‘Blue Velvet’ and name it ‘National Blue Velvet’. It would dovetail nicely into the David Lynch genre where the dialog can drift from some red dwarf talking backwards about his gold mines and private aircraft, to some self important Major who thinks his years in the military is endlessly fascinating to talk about. Plus Lynch heavily used FBI agents in his ‘Twin Peaks’ series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36_vlZha7bg Now I just need to find a way to tie all this together with the dignity associated with being a contestant on ‘Supermarket Sweep’ and this task will be complete. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO_tm-C7yfU

Maybe you need to lighten up? As for the DNA - go for it. Seeing as how they've already got his DNA and they've already investigated him, seems like it would be a relatively easy thing to do on the surface. Last laugh? Gee I hope so. You know Peterson has been on the "dropzone radar" for a long time. He's one of the top contenders for several of us - me included. Rumor has it that he even posts on here occasionally. Seriously..My point was ...I just don't understand why you think putting an 86 year old in jail would make him talk, number 1. And, number 2, if you have a DNA match to the letters - why wouldn't they just charge him with the crime and be done with it. Though one doesn't necessarily prove the other - it's still seems to be more than they've had on anyone else. And finally, I'm saying that if you did get him -- by the time it finally goes to trial, the various DB Cooper films and articles will come out..along with accounts of all of his other exploits (Sheridan Peterson has led a very interesting live) - he would be the new cause celebre. "Not guilty, your honor". So in one way it's solved, but then again, it's really not. Farflung 0 #33848 August 26, 2012 Looks like another contestant has decided to bet big and bet it all. Well that’s what makes life exciting and entertaining. While anything is possible as my statistics professor would say, don’t bet on the sun NOT coming up tomorrow. Little did I know how many people did just that on a daily basis. The irony is lost on these personality types who think when the Mayan death year has passed, they will still be viewed as a credible and balanced person. So I guess a review of this ‘Playboy letter’ is long overdue. According to someone’s analysis, a letter was sent to an Oregon newspaper which was crafted from several Playboy magazines. The evidence offered to support this theory is compelling and plausible. Has anyone thrown down $5 to obtain a copy of these magazines and verify the articles and advertisements inside? That’s a terribly low cost barrier to validation and I will surmise the answer to be a resounding NO. No one has gone so far as to validate what the mystery person has claimed and just accepted what he says on faith. I would consider this poor form, but on the DBC thread have learned to anticipate such folly. Moving on, the person who connected the Playboy magazines to the Cooper letter generously went on to decode and decipher, precisely what Cooper was communicating to the newspaper. Of course this is where things become hazy, convoluted and ultimately knocks the wheels off the wagon before it can careen off a cliff. All of the ‘analysis’ follows the same pattern where some vague association is made which is then tied to another vague association which evolves into something relevant before being definitely tied to Cooper. It is the technique used by Psychics and they use it for one incontestable reason; it works. Just like juries, you only have to fool one of them in order to succeed. Attached is a graphic which illustrates what was offered, said, and then the final interpretation from that one person. You can see that the character ‘W’ is circled on the Cooper letter then on the article titled ‘Bow Brummell’ which is accompanied with an image of four bow ties, none of which are black. But the ‘W’ in the letter came from an article which has ties, and they are classic bow ties, and classic dress is a black tie affair, which is a black tie, and ties can be clip on, leaving a black, clip-on tie, which is exactly what DB Cooper left behind proving he wrote this letter and is taunting the FBI with his clip-on, black tie, which the FBI has in their evidence room, which they have overlooked even though this is all so obvious. Then sailshaw makes his comment “I would add the black tie to the list as found in DB Cooper decoded.” Where was this black tie found? Here is where the ‘mark’ becomes an active participant through the use of hearsay with ‘poetic license’. The character ‘W’ has now evolved into a black tie versus a letter cut from some article (presumably from the correct Playboy) which represents a tie after several assumptions. Armed with the above module of ‘information’ sailshaw then goes on to add to the lore by stating this clip on black tie as being published before the public was aware of it. Of course he leaves out that the message was so incomprehensible, that the public was unaware of this till 40 years later, when someone made the first connection, thus making this the worst message since the Mayan death calendar. Keep in mind that all the while, one MUST also begin with accepting this letter as Cooper’s. After some collective push-back on this subject, sailshaw is faced with a decision point. Review his position regarding the Cooper Playboy letter, or the far more travelled choice of claiming a conspiracy from a group who don’t know each other, while playing the role of martyr with a second degree case of butthurt. mrshutter45 21 #33849 August 26, 2012 I can see that the Playboy letters match pretty good, but what about the rest, I'm sure back in the 70's fonts were not used like today, is it possible that these were simply matched to the ad because this was a typical font used in this time period? I still feel if the letters were real and sent by Cooper that he would have sent something along with them, like a 20 dollar bill? if he went this far as to sending a letter to prove he made it why not go all the way with 100% validation?"It is surprising how aggressive people get, once they latch onto their suspect and say, 'Hey, he's our guy.'
