Also: Jerry proposed a model based on new inhabitants and their walking patterns, randomly exposing Cooper before Himmelsbach dies. We could model that probability? might have to get Orange1 involved though.
Do it! I need a good laugh ...
why would you laugh? Are you thinking it's not possible? Or is it the act of someone doing a model? Jerry already did it. He has a mental model that says those actions will cause Cooper stuff to be found before Himmelsbach dies. Are you laughing at Jerry?
Or are you laughing at the idea of putting an informal model into numbers?
Or just laughing?

QuoteGeoger. Could he have Tied it to him.Probably Wouldn't you, to keep evidence from being discovered .Think about It The brief case was closed Do your test I have already done this with many brief case's. Give it a shot. Jerry
well if he went to the trouble to tie it shut and
tie it to himself, then he must have thought he
would survive. Dumb him?
But how could we ever know.
I told Sluggo once I had a new theory. Sluggo got
all intense and serious. I told him I might have evidence the bomb detonated after Cooper bailed -
all behind the plane ... which explained the "bump".
Sluggo replied: "I wish I had thought of that!"
I waited for about a day. Sluggo wrote back saying:
".................... nahhhhhhhh!".
That could explain the black burned bills!
Its a damned good thing I didnt get to talk to
National Geo. A prop theory is the least I would
have spun for them .... including those horses
and the grizzly 305 was transporting at the time
of the hijacking. "305 rose from SEA as slick as
you please but somewhere around Merwin Lake
the Grizzly got lose, and we arent sure what
happened after that. Nobody would go to the back
to look. All we know is somewhere around 8:11 the
grizzly called back and said: 'Everything is fine'. It
got quiet after that and we assumed Cooper was
gone. One horse survived and we unloaded it at
Reno. The grizzly slipped out somewhere between
Portland and Reno!"
Did Tom even get dinner out of those people?

QuoteQuoteThe Commutation of Sentence that makes NO sense with his [Duane's] prior records.
Exactly what I thought Jo until that pesky Snowmman dug up facts that showed that commutations/pardons were being handed out in massive quantities at the time. Unless you think that this was done as part of a conspiracy to mask Duane's unlikely commutation in a sea of similar clemencies, you just have to conclude that Duane was at the right place at the right time and got lucky.
You have to let go of conspiracy theories when indisputable contrary facts are presented. The ET UFO crowd and alien crop circle believers have a really hard time letting go, but I don't. Sometimes the fantastic becomes mundane when you dig deep enough. It isn't fun, it can be a huge emotional letdown, but you have to let go. Otherwise, you can be accurately classified as obsessed.

I always like a variety for context.
These are mostly from the Thailand area, I believe. But Kontum is Vietnam.
Funny one with a jumper with two canopies out. Oops!
Some are just random guys, since I've always said we don't look at enough pics of guys from back then, so any pic we see now, feels "like Cooper" just cause we don't see enough other ones.
Lots of skinny ties in the ODA16 shot...

Just learned about the D.B.Cooper story. Crazy.
This may be the first evidence that the Nat-Geo piece influenced some younger persons to research NORJAK.

You can see the spike in searches from when Carr first announced the FBI was looking at the case again, and when the parachute was found.
But searches have declined since then.
The data might not be in yet for the "Nat Geo effect"..but I'm guessing there will be no spike.
(edit) One could debate if a better Nat Geo documentary, with more real science, and more presentation of possibilities and real facts, might have stimulated searches..
the parachute was real. People react to that.
The documentary didn't have anything real. Just opinions (like the last 40 years)

QuoteI for one have seen too many lives destroyed because agressive investigators whose only motive is to solve a crime relentlessly question individuals who had no actual connection to a specific crime - and then their name is mention publically and their lives destroyed when they actually knew nothing and the relationship with the perpetrator was casual.
I thought you said the FBI had not investigated thoroughly, now you say they are too aggressive?
Some might think the last bit you wrote incredibly ironic.
377 has tried so hard with you but clearly even he now sees things the same as the rest of us.
QuoteAlthough non-specific concepts of madness have been around for several thousand years, the psychiatrist and philosopher Karl Jaspers was the first to define the three main criteria for a belief to be considered delusional in his 1917 book General Psychopathology. These criteria are:
- certainty (held with absolute conviction)
- incorrigibility (not changeable by compelling counterargument or proof to the contrary)
- impossibility or falsity of content (implausible, bizarre or patently untrue)
QuoteThe following can indicate a delusion:
The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force.
That idea appears to exert an undue influence on his or her life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent.
Despite his/her profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it.
The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief.
An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.
The belief is, at the least, unlikely, and out of keeping with the patient's social, cultural and religious background.
The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of his or her psyche.
The following features are found:
It is a primary disorder.
It is a stable disorder characterized by the presence of delusions to which the patient clings with extraordinary tenacity.
The delusions are logically constructed and internally consistent.
The delusions do not interfere with general logical reasoning (although within the delusional system the logic is perverted) and there is usually no general disturbance of behavior. If disturbed behavior does occur, it is directly related to the delusional beliefs.
The individual experiences a heightened sense of self-reference. Events which, to others, are nonsignificant are of enormous significance to him or her, and the atmosphere surrounding the delusions is highly charged.

:) check the url I provided. Not.
remember there's a "Duane Weber" that sells insurance in Washington too.

(edit) I wonder if Dan Cooper the Canadian real estate agent, ever bought insurance from Duane Weber the Washington insurance guy, for a houseboat docked behind Caterpillar Island?
(edit) and another thing: why the peak in searches on "hijacking" in Johannesburg...it leads the list

Yeah, the Thailand thing is interesting. The pics were posted on a SF page, so I assume the guy was SF. He must have trained or been stationed in Thailand for a while, then joined a Mike Force in Kontum. Those Mike Forces look like they were loaded for bear. Impressive weapons (did you see the SAW or whatever that was with the bipod)

Those MF weapons are scary, but so are yours and yours leave no trace. How is the EMP prototype coming along? Using 256 of those two farad car stereo capacitors was a great idea.
That terrain in the "two out" shot looks like a very rugged LZ, but you can't see the ground below which could be flat and surrounded by those awesome cliffs.
Even if we dont solve the Cooper case I am learning a lot of new info about the Nam war here which is highly interesting.
I still wonder what the FBI has that allows them to instantly disregard candidates like Sheridan Peterson?
Any guesses? Or do they just shoot from the hip based on preconceived unproven theories about who Cooper was?
