Jim, It never ceases to amaze me how you sum things up so succinctly and with humor. Usually, you can do it in a few words; here, you did it in a few sentences.
Reading Jo's comments were usually difficult, often scattered and wandering, but her passion and drive was always there. Her passion to answer the question why her ex-husband claimed he was DB is refreshing...even if she is more than a bit grating sometimes. She's dedicated and passionate. Don't we all have that for the skydiving that we love?
She had the unlucky fortune of being thrown into a bunch of the most egotistical, monomaniacal people on the planet: skydivers. From dinosauer skygods to fifty jump wonders she took lots and lots of nasty personal hits.
I agree with Jim: We should all be so lucky that we have her passion for a cause--other than jumping out of a perfectly good airplane!--when we get to be her age.
I mean, when *you-all* get to be her age, I'm already older than she is.
My thanks to all of you and I will make one correction to the above statements;
very lucky to have found this forum and have been given the privilege of getting to know all of you skydivers from dinosauer skygods to fifty jump wonders. The knowledge and information I have learned over the yrs from you guys is unbelievable - we have discussed, debated and argued over things,
You guys have had the grace to put up with me even thru the bad times. I don't have the words to express my gratitude and hope that I do get to meet some or all of you one day. This has been a venture I had to make - and at times endure, but it was worth every moment. My day was never complete if I didn't come here to see what was going on - each time saying to myself "I am not going to post" or "I am not going to let so and so upset me".
Only in the last few months did it become an emotional and physical drain for me - as I was not having to just defend my position and beliefs - I was forced to defend my integrity and honesty (on the phone and in the forum). Before this we had agreed to disagree, there was the usual forum smarting off, but we did most of it respectfully because we all wanted answers and still do. The Crazy Lady was just a joke because I called myself that. I also understood why others who had not seen and heard what I had would call me dislusional....for the sake of moving on to other theories or ideas or suspects that was a "Necessary" option and basically the "Only option" you guys had to shut me up once in a while so other things could be discussed.
I loved all the things ALL of you guys said about me because I guess they best explain my giving up all the things I could have done with my life to pursue the past of one Duane Lorin Weber aka John C. Collins aka Dan Cooper (he told me he was Dan Cooper).
John Collins - Paul Cotton - Dan Leclair - Duane Weber - Dan Cooper - there is a reason for this little exercise, but I don't know why...There is something about the sound of all those names that has always bugged me.

Jo, I think you would have made one hell of a skydiver yourself!
You possess that innate quality that I recognize in every real skydiver I've ever met...A no bullshit- "don't quit / keep fighting" attitude that is often a rare and precious commodity in today's world.
I sincerely hope you will reassess you decision to fold the tent because of maliciously rude behaviour directed your way by those of lesser character and honor than you.

I don't blame you...from the lack of punctuation & syntax, incorrect spelling, and convoluted thought processes that are apparent in your inability to get a point across in an understandable and courteous manner, your issues are obviously significant.
When my kids can't play nice with others, I give them a hug and offer some understanding.
If I were to kick their ass for such behavior...I'd just be lowering myself to their level.

I understand, Please blame me for the lack of knowledge to understand an old keyboard that half the keys need to be double punched or a bad rip cord. either way the only computer that I am familliar with is in the shop and it is a Lap Top Called ACCER .This key board is differrent. Well Skippy, she's older than I am and the consensus among my skydiving peers is that I'm well beyond 'elderly'.
I was taught to show respect to women, especially if they are older than me...but I guess that could just be a Texas thing.

Well Skippy if she is elderly so are we all I guess you could say my Elderly cousin at age 59 that died of agent orange cancer was elderly or you could say Jo at age 68 is elderly or can we say elderly is the age of ! older than thou.

Without Knowing the history of this situation and comunnications along with the damage all the comments has caused this Inveastigation. If I was you, I personally would not make a comment like that.However I can understand the comment, but in a sitiuation involving this perticulier case, I personally would do a lot of research before making any comment. And the cornerstone of Jo's case is Duane said,

is Jo not fulfilling her beloved husband's request
but prosecuting her own claims for her own

Could Jo "be compelled" to testify against Duane
now that Duane is dead, based on Jo's case against

These things come up in the real world where
forums are no protection!
Duane told Jo in confidence he was DB Cooper.
Jo has violated her husband's request and last
wishes expressed on his death bed, along with his
confession and bequest.
That is a direct violation of basic tenants and
ethics in most major religions.
We see the self-same tactics demonstrated here.
How did this become Jo's case? She says it was
Duane's case! Actually, the case belongs to the US
Attorney and the Dept of Justice, I think?
It seems to me Jo has spun a web that may
go far beyond only "wanting the truth".
There are very real legal issues here beyond
ethics. The DB Cooper case is still an active living
legal matter, with Jo Weber making what may be
rather serious claims against rather serious people, the FBI for one !
That does take guts, as one poster has noted
tonight. Jo says flatly: "Duane was DB Cooper".
That speaks for itself. It's like someone parachuting
into a tornado!
Why would anyone here egg Jo on to make such a
commitment? That is sick.
Geoger What Duane said to Jo is totally corect.There was no death bed confession. What he told Jo was that he new he Db Cooper was . Then Jo said, What! Then he Told Jo . Never mind I'll just let it die with me. Jo said she dismissed it as a drug induced comment. Only later Jo thought there may have been something to his story. So she said. That is when she contactacted Ralph and I . Then the story built to the magnitude it is today. Her first contact was very shortly after Duane died in the mid 90's
