rubber stamp & magnet-man

Recommended Posts

There was a post a while ago about getting a rubber ink stamp sky diver made. I found the magnet-man in my garage {surprise}. It is blown up for comparison to the nickle. I remember the stamp being the same size. As i said in the previous post you would put a number on the back and slide it around the metal plate for sequencial points.It worked ok. I hoped it brings back a few memories.

I have two sets, one at Byron and one at Lost Prairie. It's how I preview my dives for jumpers. I thought they were still being made. Guess I'd better check Para-gear's website.

Thats why I grinned when I found it. The ones in the earlier post didnt. I still have an RW version I was given a few years ago. I have been on jumps with the full tilt model. Docking was scrunch up to go below the slot and grab fast as you went up.Most people would tuck their legs and now slide the whole formation with arms as big as 35gallon barrels.This was to compensate for how slow they had it.I usually called them "Babbon Suits" for all the good they did.If you needed that much insecurity blankets under you arms stay with lonesome-ways or 2-ways.

Yup...I had an RW model too, but even that was to hard to fly for me at the time...traded it for a Brand X 'Swing Wing', which I still have!

That 'origional windsuit' ;) weighed as much as a small rig there days! :ph34r: ...You could downwind a landing on concrete and not tear that super thick canvas.

Its nice to see the full complement of scary gear on the left side guy. mine was the same only know one got around to telling me that until 500 jumps after. First the wonder hog with the belly band pilot chute if it twists on mounting your going ti die.. another didnt happen to me. Capewells converted to R-3's I even had R-2's that worked great too. One shots and 11/2 were fine also. Third the dreaded "Blast-Handle" I guess the word never got to my handles. No one told it to kill me. I guess if you want to talk your self out of jumping you can be just like hangar pilots and sit around not fly and worry.
I too had Two swing wings one black and one white. I disconnected the bottom wing attachment and made adapters to the B-12 leg strap s .It didnt shuffle like the center mount. I also did a tuck system like Sails Battens to cup more air.
I also have a "Wind-Jammer" by Tom Campau at Midwest Parachute Novi MI. It was out before Ballon-Suits, but didnt get as many sales.

Two-piece "Eagle" from the catalog of The RW shop.

The beautifully-coiffed model in the beautifully-pressed and starched suit is (blush) me.:P

I think I still have it in the garage.

Circa mid 70's?

More like late 70's. I produced their catalog for several years and these were probably initially published in 1977 or 1978 -- they're undated.
Other pictures attached:
--X-Ray;
--Swing Wing (by Brand X);
--Silly Suits (by Mike Cerasoli); comes in "small, medium, large, or outrageous;"
--Balloon suit, available in regular or sequential ("a slightly smaller suit").

I can remember a sweet and slender young thing being told by her boyfriend "there's no such thing as too much jumpsuit" :ph34r:

No, not me. I got a medium. What was quite large

Hey Twardo ... you can still get them. They are now called a GS9 tactical boot. The sole is slightly different, but its the exact same upper. Check in the catalogs that sell law enforcement gear, accessories and uniforms. I got a pair for $149 just a few years ago ... and now they are black, instead of red like the original Adidas jump boots.

Actually....I have a brand new pair (kinda) that I got through Para-gear about ten years ago on 'discontinued close out' for like about 20.00...but they're 13's and I wear 12's.

The black leather ones with the orange stripes...says red, but it's orange.:S

What can I say, took a shot.:|

Aha ... the second tier Adidas bots. My first pair were red uppers with black stripes. Never matched any of the gear I owned, but i jumped round parachutes with them until they finally fell apart.
I got the new version while i was working for a fellow in Apple Valley. Still have the boots, but, unfortunately, Joe is no longer on this Earth. I'd swap those boots to get him back in a heartbeat.

I miss the old Spaceland. Thanks for posting those shots, Paul.

Here are some more blasts from the past
A 1968 Altimaster without the yellow arc
The hook knife with 1969 stamped on the shank.
The actual name was Para-Boots 1972 for $20.00
From Dirty Dan the Parachute Man Latchford from Midwest Parachues Novi MI.Besides jumping they were Marrying ,Burying and Court shoes. Cant forget walking back to the DZ,because you couldnt get your key in the lock of a car door there similar to yours.As far as jump boots they were stingers under PC"s but you never let your friends know. as yes the good old days
