howardwhite 6 #1 April 27, 2007 This cover from the March, 1983, Parachutist, shows Kevin Donnelly, D-1377, riding a Stearman over the Grand Canyon for an IMAX movie, "Flyers." In the accompanying article, Kevin discusses the making of the movie, including the plane-to-plane transfer stunt. I'll scan and post some other pix later. airtwardo 7 #4 April 27, 2007 Quotewhat happened to jimmy franklin? On Sunday July 10, 2005, Jimmy Franklin, Bobby Younkin, Jim LeRoy, and Scott Shockley were all invited to perform at the Saskatchewan International Air Show in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Each of the performers flew their separate performances and joined up to fly the X-Team performance over the two day air show. Sadly, Jimmy Franklin and Bobby Younkin were killed during Sunday's X-Team performance as both of their aircraft collided in mid-air towards the end of that day's flying activities. Jim LeRoy was not involved and was able to land safely. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
squarecanopy 0 #5 May 16, 2007 Man I did not know that about Franklin. I have seen him perform and thought his act was really great. Sorry to hear he's gone. Just burning a hole in the sky.....
