wartload 0 #1 August 22, 2006 Have any of you got references that will tell me more about this canopy than the fact that it was made in July, 1965? The serial number is PC 651782. It's a Mark 1 made in July of 1965. Anyone have an idea when the first Mk 1 was made, and where this one would have fallen within the production numbers? If I was to guess, and I am (guessing that is). Looking at the serial number 651782: 65= 1965, 1= paracomnder mk 1, 7= July and 82= the production number so # 82 on the list. Alternatly #1 could be the day it was put into production (which looks more accurate as it is right along side the rest of the (supposed) date, either way it looks like #82 out of how many? Mick. HW Hi HW I was wondering how you senior citizens could remember all this info 40 yr's after the fact.. Then you mentioned the logbook We scratched our head scratched our butt then checked our Official Parachutist Log produced by PI. the logbook even has a page entitled "Record of equipment" So we "remembered" the following info Item:PC S/n: 7011080, purchased from: Midwest, :Date of Purchase Jan 1970, Purchase price: $290, Distinctive Markings: RWB. If anyone has the canopy please PM me. Great memory HW. ... Now where did I leave my logbook R.I.P.
JerryBaumchen 1,466 #6 August 22, 2006 Hi wartload, I bought my Mk I PC in the fall of '64. The serial number was 363; it may have had a 64 in there also but that I cannot remember. I DO remember the 363 serial number though. I believe that the numbering system was merely numerical and meant nothing other than the order of mfr.
