Robin Heid was his passenger. They jumped right after me. Nice landing, too, right on the sand bar.If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead. riggerrob 643 #6 October 2, 2005 Bill Booth and Ted Strong jumped together during early test jumps of their respective tandem systems, then they drifted apart. Circa 2000, they collaborated again, comparing prototypes of their latest student harnesses. The result was Strong tandem student harnesses with hip rings. The Sigma student harness may lack hip rings, but it has geometry similar to the latest Strong student harnesses.
JerryBaumchen 1,466 #7 October 3, 2005 Rob, My memory is that the Strong system was developed & being sold prior to the Booth system being on the market. I think without a drogue at that time. As far as I can remember, Jamey Woodward at Issaquah was one of the very first to put tandems to use on a very regular basis. Now someone may have been before him, but I don't know about. I also have a tape somewhere of Jerry Rouilaird (sp?) doing tandems in the Dallas, TX area for a local tv show. Anyone have any other memories on this? wartload 0 #8 October 4, 2005 His name is Jerry Rouillard--known to some as "Ruler Head" (as they were running away). Among other things, he was a stunt double for Burt Lancaster in the filming of Gypsy Moths. For a time he ran a DZ in Roanoke Rapids, NC and drove a pretty neat "woody" wagon. I think that he later worked at the Academy of Model Aeronautics before going to work at a museum somewhere. Nice guy.
feuergnom 29 #9 October 4, 2005 so there's two genius guys working on the same thing and then splitting up - is that a case of two type a personalities clashing? The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver #
