I did my 100th. What Year Was the FIRST CREAM PIE in Skydiving History?

Recommended Posts

getting pied was a well established tradition when I started jumping in 1973, although it was reserved for more special occasions than now. Until I got back into skydiving about 4 years ago, I only saw it at 1,000 jump intervals. So sometime between about 1985 and 2000 getting pied required less excuse than in the old days. I hear of it for 100, 500, AFF graduations... any damn thing.

Kind of like any reason to charge someone a case of beer, except harder to explain. I understand that most people like to drink someone else's beer. I don't understand why the pie proliferation.

Hi JW

thats are experience also we saw a guy in 1970-1971 reach 1000 and he was met at the peas and recieved a cold champagne bath over his head:)
We remember the photo in parachutist or skydiver of some poor soul arms extended duct taped to a road barrier. He was pied to the extremeB| Maybe WFFC or some other boogie. I'm guessing there would be a lot less pieing if that was the standard.

Now someone with 100 jumps want to be pied[:/] OK splat!! Interesting;) Nothing wrong with it just interesting:|

We had around 1400 jumps befor we stopped jumping & never been pied.:)
I think it must be a tribal thing and free BEER:)
R.I.P.

What I remember most about being pied was that it stung my eyes and made everything blurry for about two hours... Not fun... Here's a photo of an unfortunate person who I thought might even suffocate if they didn't hurry up and remove the pie.... Check it out. This is taken at Elsinore in about 94? I think it was a 1000th jump or better.

Hi md,
Creame pies and Cardinal Puff----for the 3rd and final time!!!! Who knows?? Creme pies definitely go back to the days of slapstick comedy silent movies and maybe beyond!! Cardinal Puff, at least games like Cardinal are suppose to date back to at least "Roman" times?? Who knows, the romans didn't skydive and if they did they kept it a good secret!! I started jumping in '64 and didn't hear or see any "Pie flinging" until the early 70's at Elsinore. Then people were getting pied for anything!! No one was safe, nothing was sacred!!! Just remember, the "Only" rules in getting pied are "Jungle Rules!!!!!" "And," you have to make them up as you go along because, there are really,"No Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;);).
