AirMail 0 #1 April 16, 2003 I was wondering if anyone keeps statistics on how many jumps are done each year worldwide. I'm pretty sure each DZ will know its own stats, but does anyone consolidate all the numbers? If so, where can I find them? Patrick-- It's never too late to have a happy childhood. pack40 0 #3 April 16, 2003 For Hungary I found this, now you have to find for the rest ~180 countries. It is from 1948 to 2000. OVER Hungaryjumps.xls
Katzeye 0 #4 April 16, 2003 I was just wondering the same thing... What I did was 30,000 current USPA members averaging between 50-100 jumps/year. I know fun jumpers range in that area and some members did no jumps and professional skydivers do alot more... LA* Is a chicken omelette redundant? quade 4 #6 April 16, 2003 If the USPA stats are within 20 percent of correct I think it would be a miracle. I don't blame the USPA for that -- it's just the nature of the beast.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

airtwardo 7 #8 April 26, 2003 I spent some time on Russia a few years back... Out in Siberia, seemed most everyone that was in the military back in the cold war days had scores of jumps! Woman in the food store with 3500, most style & acc. Guy driving the cab..1500+ the bartender with 2200... At first I thought it was bullshit...then they start talking the talk...and out come the pictures! One old dude took me home to show me & try to sell me his Russian copy of a Strato Cloud, made of taffitia and cotton lines! I don't know how many are made there these days...but in years past they were no doubt 'smokin' us on #'s ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
Zoltan 0 #9 April 28, 2003 Brother :) You would be suprised if you would know more details about the parachuting of the ex-communist block. For example the jumps were free untill the end of 80's :) Civil parachuting was a semi-military activity respected and sponsored by the state. I think even in the States there are many guys from the other side of the wall built during the cold war. Just sit down with a cold one after a good jump day on a busy DZ and ask the russian, hungarian, slovakian, etc fellow who is packing, filming and jumping tandem or AFF there at let him speak :) you will be suprised how different was and is the same sport outside of the States :) z
