axelandr 0 #1 November 29, 2011 Just wondering if anybody know if there will be regular activity at the DZ in Dubai troughout Christmas..? Got a couple of days off and might be spending them there, but only if I know there will be jumping.. Also, there seems to be a temporary "D-licence only" going on for The Palm - anybody knows if this will be lifted, and when...? appreciate any input, Alex. 3mpire 0 #2 November 29, 2011 not to be flip but since they are an arab country, I wouldn't think most places would close for christian holidays. their website doesn't seem to have a calendar, just events, which doesn't specify. i'd just email them http://skydivedubai.ae/contact/
axelandr 0 #3 November 30, 2011 The Emirates are indeed arab countries but a couple of them have a huge western influence, specifically Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Hence they might adhere to some of the western traditions more than countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq etc.. Heck, where I am at right now, in northern Pakistan/KPK, they even put up xmas-trees and whatnot, even though we're deep inside muslim territory.. who would have thought! email has been sent, just thought it might be easier if someone on here was spending time/working in dubai and knew what was going on.. axelandr 0 #6 December 10, 2011 here's the reply from Skydive Dubai: not too much info regarding their activities during xmas though.. ********************************* What we need from you to be able to jump with us at Skydive Dubai is a CURRENT skydiving license, log book showing a record of your experience and a current membership to a skydiving association that offers you 3rd party liability insurance. Skydive Dubai Palm DZ is a ‘C’ license dropzone. We now require 200 jumps minimum and you have to have had a basic canopy course before jumping here, we will not allow you to jump without it. ***********************************
jimp 1 #7 December 14, 2011 There is also the Skydive Dubai desert dropzone for those taking aff and those who do not meet the 200 jump requirement for the Palms. Call the number on the website, some one should be happy to give you the information you need about Christmas activities.
