EvanByrne 0 #1 September 15, 2009 Hello everyone, on Sunday (two days ago) I did my first tandem jump, and I am absolutely hooked. It was an amazing experience and I plan to continue doing it for a very very long time. However, the location in which I jumped, the DZ people didn't give off much of an impression of professionalism, to Me. I am a pilot (airplane) so I am use to extremely high levels of professionalism and safety. Though I don't look down on the kind of 'Vibe' I got at the DZ, nor do I judge them, its not an environment I would prefer to learn in. For this exact reason I will not name the DZ at which I jumped. They were very nice people, and did seem to know what they were doing very well. Can anyone pass on recommendations of a good DZ for me to start my AFF training at? I live in Ojai, CA. Elsinore? Perris? Lompoc? Taft? (I'm sure there are more, I'm just unaware of them)
guppie01 0 #2 September 15, 2009 Depends... if you're looking for strict professionalism - Perris. If you're looking for professionalism and family vibe - Elsinore. (by the sounds below - sounds more like Perris is your style). I've jumped as a regular at Taft, so I can't form an opinion on the school. I've never jumped at Lompoc - I'm not keen on the landing area. g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" NWFlyer 2 #3 September 15, 2009 I've never been a student or instructor at any of the DZs, but I'd advise talking to each (better yet, visiting) to see if they have the environment that you're looking for. If you go to Perris, be sure to look at both schools at Perris - the school run by the DZ itself as well as the Jim Wallace skydiving school, which is an independently-run school that uses Perris' facilities. Bolas 5 #4 September 16, 2009 What did they do that was unprofessional? Did you also feel unsafe as well?Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
joerocket1022 0 #5 September 16, 2009 Did my AFF with the Perris school and my water training with the Jim Wallace school at Perris. Both were super professional, as I had started my AFF at another school. No drama, all instructors were consistent in their procedures. Not sure if this helps. Also, never been to Elsinore, but no one I've spoken has anything bad to say, even at Perris.I came with a simple dream, a dream to kill all humans. _Bender Bending Rodriquez
