jumpflorida 0 #1 December 16, 2008 My cousin works at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort and has told me that the Golden Knights have jumped there and at Club La Vila every year for the past 6 years during spring break. Any chance a money hungry DZO out there who wants to make a ton of cash off of a bunch of spring breakers and tandem masters who want to land on the beach with a pretty girl while having one strapped to them. It would really help out us fun jumpers who want to have a good time. There are tons of hotels, at least one campground right on the beach, nightclubs/bars, golf courses (get permission to swoop the water obstacles/swoop contest/exhibition, etc.), tons of outs... it would be awesome. Helos would be best, since there are several helo pads on the beach (logistically easier) and the airport is little ways off, but still do-able if we go with planes. Lets get something going!!!! jumpflorida 0 #2 December 17, 2008 I have a lead on one helicopter and will work on getting a venue and additional aircraft. I would like to know what kind of support this event would have (fun jumpers and tandem instructors) if it were to actually 'get off the ground'. BillyVance 35 #3 December 17, 2008 Maybe you can try asking Emerald Coast Skydiving? They're just across the state line in AL. Not sure how far they are from Panama City though."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
jumpflorida 0 #4 December 17, 2008 I talked to MD Evans (DZO) over there and he did not express much interest in doing it. They have done remote jumps in Destin, FL and other places, but he does not feel inclined to work out the logistics of it all. I'll try the School of Human Flight in Quincy. I'm going to try to get a hold of the public affairs offices at Ft. Rucker and at Tyndall AFB to see about the possibility of chartering a few military aircraft (blackhawks or something) for the event as well.
matthewcline 0 #5 December 17, 2008 I can tell you, do not bother to call Rucker. The US Military does not Charter its A/C to civilian functions of that nature.Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
totter 2 #6 December 17, 2008 Maybe you should talk to Lyle Presse or Jim Slayton on the matter. The ran the "Go Fast" compition and boogie there for a couple years. I believe that it was 2001 thru 2003. The would be able to shed some light on the difficulties of such an endevor and also why the event is not there anymore. CSpenceFLY 1 #7 December 17, 2008 From what I remember there were beach access issues and it was said at the time that something like that would never happen in Panama City again.

EvilEagle 0 #9 December 19, 2008 I'm in for fun jumps and any coaching that needs to be done. I have to drive too far to jump now, we need a Panama City DZ!!! Tyndall won't be able to help you either with support. We only have jets, and no luck jumping from them...
BillyVance 35 #10 December 19, 2008 Good luck on the lead I gave you. I'm sure he will help you make things happen. matthewcline 0 #12 December 30, 2008 Well you can always walk over to a hanger and get a C or U series A/C and help make it happen. I won't tell and no one here will either. What ya flyen'? jumpflorida 0 #13 January 1, 2009 QuoteWhat ya flyen'? I have not called around to the Helo operators in the PCB area, but will do so soon. There is also the possibility that someone will be able to either fly or trailer one for the event from south FL. In the event that these possibilities do not work out I have two (maybe more) 182's lined up that will fly in for the event.
