Hunt_Joshua_G 0 #1 July 23, 2008 Hey guys, My job takes me all over the US and I was wondering what you all think the best DZ's are? If i'm near one I'll try and jump it."When the people look like ants-PULL, When the ants look like people-PRAY." "Only skydivers know why the birds sing." Andrewwhyte 1 #2 July 23, 2008 It really depends what you want. The largest DZ in the world is in Eloy, and there is a Cessna DZ about 10 miles away. Some people prefer it. If your profile is correct I would not recommend "DZ surfing." I would recommend picking a DZ and staying there until your student training is complete. Once that is done go to every freakin' one of them and give us a report.

jlmiracle 7 #5 July 23, 2008 QuoteI was wondering what you all think the best DZ's are? Ones that DO NOT take skyride Cert are the Best DZ in the US, regardless of their aircraft. Broke 0 #6 July 24, 2008 Depends on your definition of "Best" is. I happen to think that CPI is one of the Best dropzones around, and they don't have a lot of the same stuff other dropzones have, but the people there are awesome. Also if you can land there you can land anywhere. I m heading there this weekend. I am glad too, because it feels like home even though I am not a regular jumper thereDivot your source for all things Hillbilly. TAXIWAY 0 #7 July 24, 2008 I think the best ones are the ones that get me to altitude. FYI i dont think I have ever been to a bad dz(oops forgot about the old keystone dz)
skyh2omedic 0 #8 July 24, 2008 If you are in our neighborhood by all means stop in. www.skydivekstate.com We are a small college club, you will laugh and feel at home. Jump prices are good to. Have fun in your travels and hit as many DZ's as you can."You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go"

Interest, skill, and organizing provided in various disciplines varies depending on where you are. If you're not affraid to introduce yourself you'll probably have fun at any DZ. Personally I'll pick turbine DZs over ones with just cessnas - I like the shorter ride to altitude and there are more people to jump with. The party vibe varies too. Sometime you should probably hang out wherever Scotty Carbone happens to be. He organizes fun flat jumps, cooks a mean meal, and is generally incorrigible. Broke 0 #13 July 28, 2008 I visited CPI this weekend and even when I wasn't jumping I had a blast. Check out www.skydivingstills.com for this weekends picsDivot your source for all things Hillbilly. Anvil Brother 84 SCR 14192
pairashooter 0 #14 July 28, 2008 After you have been fully trained and through student status then you should visit other DZs. It all depends on what you are looking for. As someone already said there are DZs that you will go to and sit around alone with nobody to talk to or jump with due to the cliques and skygods not interested in new jumpers. There are also those DZs that welcome new jumpers and invite them to jump at every chance. I am lucky to be part of one of those DZs. Skydive Houston has a great vibe that is hard to beat. Those who aren't there during the week start showing up Friday nights to hang out, eat and drink beer. Saturday we organize different jumps throughout the day specifically to help each-other get better at flying and then every Saturday night there is someone cooking up grub for everyone while we converse, swim in our pool, drink beer, and above all, include everyone as if they were family. I am sure there is a dropzone like this near you.Chris Scaife
chuteless 1 #15 July 28, 2008 Best dropzone in the USA is Green County near Xenia, Ohio. Run by two of the best people in the USA as well. Bill ColeD-41 Canada.
fireballgrl 0 #16 August 1, 2008 IMHO I think Skydive Chicago is the best dz as far as what they offer in altitude, aircraft, loads of people to jump with, ammenities, facilities and a midwest friendly vibe. I say all of this and its not even my home DZ... I am from a friendly little Kansas City cessna dz that is like second family. I cannot lie though, I love all that SDC has to offer
