tumbler 0 #1 October 31, 2006 I have a friend that has relocated to Roanoke and is trying to find the closest DZ. Any suggestions? thanks
 darkwing 5 #2 November 1, 2006 yes, click on the "Dropzones" tab at the top of the page in DZ.com. It will let you enter your zipcode or town, and specify a driving distance.... -- Jeff My Skydiving History
 DJL 235 #3 November 1, 2006 Closest isn't alway best but swing by Skydive VA. At least one of our jumpers makes the the commute from there."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
 matrixboarder 0 #4 November 1, 2006 Whew! Finally filled in some stuff on my DZ account. Tumbler was making the post for me. I just recently moved out to Roanoke, but need to keep jumping to get my A-license. Thank you for everyone's input and Tumbler's post. I will def. be checking out skydivevirginia.com. I guess the purpose of this post was just to see if there was a DZ that wasn't listed on dropzone.com. Believe me, Tumbler knows his way around this site. Besides, I did the whole enter-your-zip thing, but there was nothing that was close by (less than 20 minutes away--I like jumping during lunch time; helps me unwind for the rest of the work day). I guess I was spoiled being up in NY and only 20 minutes away from the DZ in Duanesburg. I'll do almost anything to progress in this sport though, so whether it be hitchhiking or being stuffed in a trunk on the way to a DZ...I'm there. Apparently VA Tech is pretty big into outdoorsy stuff. In fact, I just received an email from one of their reps who is thinking about planning a trip out to NC to skydive. Score! If there are any carpools or something of that nature from Roanoke to a DZ, please let me know. I'll include my email in my personal profile a little later, but for your convenience: hantran@hotmail.com. I don't mind making the trip by myself (like I said, anything it takes to progress), but the more the merrier.
