Macskydiver 0 #1 February 27, 2003 I took the Altimiter poll about jumping without one or an audible. I answered YES, but the only reason I jumped without one, was on a round canopy "landing" in a lake. Every year Skydive New Mexico holds a water boogie the weekend after Labor day at lake Conhas NM. I once had an altimeter malfunction on the ride up, but I had an audible as a backup. Your own eyes and judgement are your "last resort" altimeter, I think it's dumb to jump without (at least) one unless you hop&pop or plan the dive very carefully.
