Macskydiver 0 #1 August 14, 2006 Hey folks; I hope this is OK to post since it is sort of advertizing. It is a rather unique event and if you have never jumped a round canopy or, done an intentional water landing here's your chance. It is advertized in the calender section of this website. This is actually the 18th year Skydive New Mexico has been hosting a water boogie, I made a mistake when I first posted it. Only about 20 folks have signed up for it so far, we usually get 50-60 using two 182s. The attachment is quite detailed but, reply to me if you want to keep up to date with the planning and I will add you to the email list or, reply to you here. We do this every year but, it is cool to jump a round canopy and land it in the water and the chance doesn't happen that often.
Bolas 5 #2 August 14, 2006 When is it? Tell skysprite to blow off class for a month and organize this. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
Macskydiver 0 #3 August 14, 2006 Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It's 9 & 10 Sept 06, we will have a couple folks at the lake Thursday night and will start jumping Friday as soon as we get enough to fill a 182 load(4). Swooping the lake IS allowed but bear in mind that it is at 4,200' MSL so it's gonna be zippy if you're used to jumping near sea level. Something else that's pretty cool, you can see the White Sands missle range from exit altitude. The FIRST commercial space port in the world is being built there and Carlsbad Caverens are reasonably close. A cool excuse for a road trip...
skymama 37 #4 August 14, 2006 You are allowed to post an annual event like this. It sounds fun! Do you have any pics from other years that you can post? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Macskydiver 0 #7 August 15, 2006 Cool! I thought we were the only DZ that did water jumps on an annual basis. We break out some really scary old round canopies for this event every year and have a blast. When does Lost Praire do water jumps, during the boogie in July? We have a few folks that look forward to doing water jumps every year, send me more info and I will let them know the details of the LP water jumps. Amazon 7 #8 August 15, 2006 TallGuy and I put it together the last couple of years.. this year we did it on Friday afternoon. I jumped my 1970's Paracommander MKII in McGregor Lake... Jeremy from my DZ jumped my Papillion that I jumped into the lake last year. Next year we will do it again... BUT... peopl neeed to come prepared. A rig to jump into the water.. with the reserve in date. ..I had rigs there that people COULD have jumped BUT they did not want to get a rigger to pack up the reserve. Next year I am just bringing one for me.... digging out all that other stuff Flotation devices that are approved.. and we need more boats... and then more people could jump.... a couple boats more would make a huge difference. We jumped from 4500 ft over the lake from the Otter... no problem spotting for those of us who remember how to spot for a round... even in the 20 MPH+ winds... I still managed to get us a landing right in front of the peanut gallery at the dock
