EricTheRed 0 #1 June 5, 2006 WOOOOO-HOOOOO! We finally have a "real" airplane! The otter has arrived and is just waiting for some minor (required) preventative maintenance and it's check up from the mechanics to start flying jumpers. It's expected to be flying jumpers by July 1st. Photos to come later. Redillegible usually
NWFlyer 2 #2 June 5, 2006 Sweet! Is this a seasonal thing or permanent?"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Amazon 7 #3 June 5, 2006 Is it an Otter .. or a Twin Otter?
sdctlc 0 #4 June 5, 2006 I spoke with Mike, the DZO, last week and it is a Twin Otter. Need to get its annual and it should be based there for the rest of the summer and possibly longer it sounded like! Great news for the litle DZ that could after going on one 182 for the last few yers! I hope it all works out well for them and the local jumpers that will not have a wait for a load issue any more, at least I would imagine that will be the case! EricTheRed 0 #5 June 5, 2006 Only think that's permanent is death, but I think we should be able to keep it for a while. Don't know if it will get a lot of loads off in December in the Northwet, but we'll see... It's here for the summer at least, come on out and Jump.illegible usually
superstu 0 #6 June 5, 2006 how much are jump prices at toledo? they allow hop n pops?Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
EricTheRed 0 #7 June 5, 2006 Hop 'n Pop's have always been allowed. Jump prices quite honestly aren't the best currently but as of late it's really been little more than a tandem DZ. Not from desire, just due to capacity. With all the tandems, it is hard to even get on a load unless you are flying video. (right now it's just a single 182 doing all the work) Even though I love the place, I'd have to say to any jumpers that it's probably not worth it until the twin otter starts flying. I'll keep you posted... The web site is www.skydivetoledo.com for info on pricing.illegible usually
sdctlc 0 #8 June 5, 2006 WOW, painfull honesty from Eric!! I have to agree though (I have not jumped there that often recently) but when the otter gets going I will try to get out more often! It is a cool little DZ with the biggest problem in the past being capacity issues! Scott"He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
EricTheRed 0 #9 June 6, 2006 This shoudl make the situation MUCH better though... Even though the paint is a bit faded, I do like the history of this bird...illegible usually
Amazon 7 #10 June 6, 2006 Hmmm 69th Special Orgy Group???
EricTheRed 0 #11 June 26, 2006 Update on the Otter. It will be losing it's 69th Special Orgy Group [(C) Amazon] designation and is nearly repainted. Sorry no new photos of the new paint scheme but it's nice. Not exciting, but nice. Mostly white with a black belly and some accent stripes. Maintenance is nearly complete and she should be flying jumpers soon.illegible usually
