fmmobley 0 #1 February 7, 2006 I will be in Savannah over a weekend in a couple of months. Are there any nearby DZ's that are still operational?... Marion
Spatula 0 #2 February 7, 2006 No offense but did you take the time to look @ the "Dropzones" tab above, and call some? http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/North_America/United_States/Georgia/index.html Give some a call, your answer lies there.
labrys 0 #3 February 7, 2006 You might also take a look at South Carolina as there may be a DZ there closer than Georgia. Try finding a Savanna zip code and plug it into the locator, then call to make sure the DZs it finds are operating.Owned by Remi #?
CSpenceFLY 1 #4 February 7, 2006 Or you could wait for someone willing to answer your question. Savannah is one of those places that is 3 hrs from everything.Skydive St.Marys is closed. You should check Skydive Jacksonville and then Palatka.I have been to Palatka, they are good people. To the north I would have sent you to St.George in South Carolina but they have also closed.Next closest is Walterboro.About an hour north on I-95.I think they run a Cessna. Then Chester about an hour north of Columbia. When are you going to be in Savannah? . lisamariewillbe 1 #7 February 7, 2006 From what I understand its a tandem by appointment place, but I hear that there is a DZ in Fernadina Beach that my AFF partners just finished up with Glenn Bangs. Pastor Sanes and his son jumped there, skydivestmarys knows a bit more about the place then I do though.Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
Taylor610 0 #8 February 7, 2006 Skydive Walterboro is open, but they run a 182 and pretty much just do tandems. I live about 1/2 mile from the landing area as the crow flys and watch them from my yard. I haven't been there in a while, but it is a HUGE airport, the people are ok, the vibe is a slack one, no drinking after hours, no parties and last couple of times I was there, no fun jumpers, just tandems and/or S/L students. I was told by one of the I's over there that once the students are done, they lock up and go home, up-jumpers or not. If you do go p'm me cause I am right there. I'll meet you over there, and we can get together for food or a cold one.

fmmobley 0 #10 February 9, 2006 Thanks for the info. I will be in Savannah the weekend of April 1. I checked the dropzone locator and the closest was St. George which I find out is closed. (Whats up with so many DZ's closing lately?) See you in Dublin, Chris. I already sent you some money ! Praying for good weather.... Marion
