jloirsdaan 0 #1 January 22, 2006 Hey, I want to hear how the weather usually is usually at this time of year. I am coming home for 2 weeks around the 1st of Feb, and I'd like to head down to Deland and make as many jumps as possible. How are the Temps in Feb? Rain, wind?? I'd check the weather....but somehow thats filtered out on our computers here (and DZ.coms not ). Also....during the week.....usually lots of loads? Or does it slow down CONSIDERABLY during the week? I would like to make it down for a weekend...but that may not be possible. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated! Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft. skymama 37 #2 January 23, 2006 The temps in Feb are usually pretty mild with little rain. It could range from the 60's to 80's for the highs. Wind is usually just an issue a couple times a month when a heavy front moves in. As most dz's, the loads slow down during the week, but a plane will usually still be flying. We get a lot of teams here at this time of year. You will be here when a lot of RW people will be in Thailand for the 400 way world record, so I don't know how that will affect the dz. Some people might be there who would have normally been down south. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
jloirsdaan 0 #3 January 23, 2006 Thanks very much. Thats what I was hoping! Hopefully I can make it down on for 4 days (fri-mon). But if not...sounds like it shouldn't be much of an issue. Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft.
NWFlyer 2 #4 January 25, 2006 Jordan (and the rest of the DeLand folks, for that matter) - I'm planning to jump there on February 4th (though I'll be taking Scott Miller's course, so maybe no time for regular fun jumping). Say hi if you're there that day, though."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. skymama 37 #5 January 25, 2006 QuoteSay hi if you're there that day, though. Bummer, a lot of people will be at the Pyro Vixen Boogie in Sebastian that weekend. Scott's class is totally worth staying in Deland for, but try to come down for the party that night! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
jloirsdaan 0 #6 January 25, 2006 The weekend of the 4th and 5th is the one I'm shooting for! I just hope I get back in enough time to make it there on Friday the 3rd. I'll keep an eye out for you. Too bad I don't know for sure.....I'd like to take the canopy control course too..... It'd be neat to meet a few people from dz.com while I'm there!! Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft. jloirsdaan 0 #7 January 25, 2006 What's this about boogies..... How far is Sebastian from Deland?? I got four days...I can go to a few DZ's! Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft.
skymama 37 #8 January 25, 2006 Check out this thread for the Pyro Vixen Boogie. I haven't driven direct from Deland to Sebastian but I'd say it's probably 1 1/2-2 hours away, an easy drive on I-95 south. See if you can get in on Scott's class on Sat and then come that night and jump with everyone on Sunday! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
jloirsdaan 0 #9 January 25, 2006 Sounds like a plan....I went to the site....its about an hour or so. So could I just show up the day of and get a slot for the course? I might literally get there just in time. Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft.
skymama 37 #10 January 25, 2006 It'll be more than an hour. I live south of Deland and it's takes me about 1 1/2 hours to get there. For Scott's class, you need to contact him beforehand. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
jloirsdaan 0 #11 January 25, 2006 Is Scott Miller on DZ.com? Or do I need to contact him through a external email address? I ask too many questions ..... Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft.
skymama 37 #12 January 25, 2006 Sorry, I meant I live 30 min. south of Deland and it takes me 1 1/2 hours to get to Sebastian. That's why I thought it might take you closer to 2 hours. Got to www.freedomofflight.tv to contact Scott and get info on the course. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

NWFlyer 2 #14 January 26, 2006 Jordan - get in touch with Scott - he will probably be able to hold a spot for you. When I planned this trip I wasn't 100% sure I'd be able to come either and he said as long as I let him know in advance it was okay if I cancelled. Hope I'll see you in class. Skymama - I will see if my whuffo friend that I'm staying with wants to head down to Sebastian - he might be up for that (especially if I get him to do a tandem earlier that day). I've been traveling like crazy, lately, though, so I may be completely exhausted and not much for boogieing (when I saw the boogie was that weekend I considered changing plans, but I think I'll need a quieter weekend than a boogie will provide)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. jloirsdaan 0 #15 January 26, 2006 I wrote him an email through his site....don't know how long it'll have taken for him to get it. I should be able to make it....I leave for Kuwait Saturday or so....takes 3-4 days to get back. So I'm looking at being home no later than Wednesday if everything goes right. I'll leave for FL Thursday night. Way too much info though.... I tend to talk (write) a lot. Anyway....thanks and hopefully I'll see you there! Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft. skydiverbrian 0 #16 January 28, 2006 Jordan, Skymama is not known for her directional expertise. I love her all the same, but she's a little challenged behind the wheel. If you're going to drive to Sebastian from Deland, take I4 west to the TURNPIKE, then turnpike south to State Road 60. Mapquest from there to Sebastian. There are a few tolls, but it's much, much faster. Hint: anything over 85 attracts FHP's attention. --Brian In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal

jloirsdaan 0 #19 January 30, 2006 Well, I'm sitting in the Atlanta airport right now. So I definitely made it in time for the weekend! So I hope to meet some people at both Deland and the Pyro Boogie! Jordan Go Fast, Dock Soft.
