We've not heard good things about the bunkhouse there so was wondering if you could let me know... a) What are the nearest hotels, rooms for rent near Deland? We don't have a car so it needs to be walking distance b)Is anyone passing Orlando Airport at around 5pm headed towards Deland? Thanks! Email the dz info@skydivedeland.com and ask for the housing list--most of the local skydiver rooms rent for $15-$20 per night, with discounts for longer stays; there are some local hotels and motels as well--and for the number of the DOTS shuttle. The shuttle will bring you to a hotel that is less than five miles from the dropzone and you can take a taxi (DeLand Taxi 386-734-8484) from there. The dropzone staff helps visiting skydivers make arrangements all the time. Use their knowledge to find the best accomodations for your budget, and for any other help you need. rl Edited to add: The bunkhouse is effectively a shack with a space heater and six bunks. It is right next to the showers. It's about one degree better than camping, but not much more than that. On the other hand, it's cheap.
