Kuper 0 #1 April 19, 2003 i had 19 jumps till now, but i screwd up in the levels of flying forward and backward during my AFF lessons (i had a lot of uncontrolled turns, so i didn't have even the chance to try flying forward or backword with my instructor). now i controll my turns and that's good, but for flying forward and backward - is there any way to work on it when you still jump ALONE? i thought to find a mark on the groung or something, but it still seems not the best way to do that.... thanx, and have a blue sky! nightjumps 1 #2 April 19, 2003 FInding a spot on the ground isn't going to help. Now that is warming up... try this and feel the relative air. Jump with nothing but a pair of shorts.. 1. Pick a heading. 2. Arms straight out (Superman style) and legs up for backward motion. 3. Arms at the Delta position and legs straight out. In each case keep your heading and *feel* the air. In step 2, you should feel the relative air traveling up your torso, In step 3 , you should feel the realtive air traveling across your torso and legs to the rear. That answers the alone part, its really best to get someone to hold a position (Coach) and practice moving forwrd and back with the COach as a point of reference. You'll get there. Have fun
Kuper 0 #3 April 21, 2003 'superman' style you mean hands straight ahead? and 'delta' like in the regular body position?http://www.orikuper.printroom.com
towerrat 0 #4 April 21, 2003 dude, get a coach. Don't waste time and money trying to learn by yourself. It will take you three times as long.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
nightjumps 1 #5 April 21, 2003 Feet straight out, arms at a 45 to your rear = serious forward motion (keep reference on horizon) Arms out [front] and feet up @ 90 degree angle = backsliding. If you can't afford a Coach, you and someone else go out together. Each taking a turn at being the "Base" fall flat and stable while the other moves forwrd and backward to that person. Kuper 0 #6 April 21, 2003 ok. thank u nightjumps! it does help, because i wanted to be sure of this thing and those body positions while still not on the plain or at the dz - for imagine it (it sometimes helps...) for the case of finding a coach or someone else jump with me - i hope it'll be ok, and that someday - i will jump with others - it looks like a REAL fun! tomorrow (hmmm it's today yet 01:03 here) they gonna have the Israeli skydiving championship in the dz but they do not want people with dz's rigs to jump on that day! maybe i'll go there just to have a look and to feel the spirit (blah blah blah). it can be nice (though i planned to jump!) thanx again and have a blue sky, Ori. http://www.orikuper.printroom.com
nightjumps 1 #7 April 21, 2003 Even if you can't jump, there's always something to learn. Watch the teams doing their dirt dives (watch the ones that use creepers, the standup ones won't do a lot for your learning curve). Use a creeper yourself to practice. The same movements on the ground using a creeper are the same ones you use in the sky. For example, if you wanted to move forward, lay down on the creeper in the box man position., then put your arms and feet straight down on the ground, now gently push back with hands and feet to get forward motion. If you wanted to move backwards, boxman, lay your arms and feet down, push gently away (creating rear movement) and bring your legs up slightly. I bet if someone sees you doing that, they'll come help and talk to you about movement. Enjoy the day...
