rasmack 0 #1 January 27, 2005 I'm a Danish PhD-student, who's very often at CERN, Geneva. In Denmark I am a skydiving student with 24 jumps. I am qualified to jump from 4000 m without an instructor. I was taught through a static-line education. Can anyone direct me to a DZ near Geneva, where I might be allowed to do some training jumps? I have tried Googling around but I don't speak French, and I do not know the surrounding geography too well.HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde... rasmack 0 #3 January 27, 2005 Thanks. Is it anywhere nearby? As I said. I do not know the surrounding area very well, and I do not speak (nor read) French. Any first-hand experience?HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde... faulknerwn 38 #4 January 28, 2005 I'm not sure how close it is to Geneva, but I loved the dz in Locarno - its just a short ways north of Milan. They speak German/French/italian and English there so you could figure something out! W
rasmack 0 #5 February 22, 2005 I just thought I should post a follow-up to this, if someone looks it up later. The nearest DZ's seem to be: Annemasse: http://www.parachutisme74.com/ Para Club Valais: http://www.pcv.ch However one was closed for the winter and the other deemed me too inexperienced for the DZ of the weekend. I ended up going to Gap-Tallard (http://parachutisme-gap.com/). It was fantastic. Nice people, nice airplane and a fantastic British instructor, Kevin Hardwick. It was not until I got back and did some research I found out this guy had 9000+ jumps. The reason I note the instructor specifically is that they were hesitant to let me jump solo without an instructor, so Kevin interrogated me for the better part of an hour on rigs and possible malfunctions before he got in a plane to supervise me on the first jump. First video I ever saw of my self in free fall. Only minus about the weekend was that the French apparently think it is cold up there, so I only got 4 jumps out of the weekend. EDIT: I should say that it was a hell of a drive from Geneva. I hate mountain roads.HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
