Closest to Ft. Collins is Longmont (Mile Hi Skydiving), or Brush, (Denver Skydivers). If you want scenery, Longmont is the correct option."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. groundpounder 0 #3 October 31, 2004 From Fort Collins, I think Mile-Hi (Longmont) and Denver Skydivers (Brush) are probably equidistant. BUT, it is my personal recommendation that you go to Brush. Why? It is 2 bucks less for 1,000' more altitude. The ride up is either the same or quicker. People hang around at the end of the day, there's usually a bonfire. (Mile-Hi everyone goes home). The staff are much friendlier at Brush. Again, this is my personal opinion, but consider that I opt for the 100-mile drive to Brush over the 12-mile drive to Mile-Hi because I think it is that much better. (Oh, keep in mind that the name "denver skydivers" doesn't mean it is close, or the closest, to denver.) happy jumps
riddler 0 #4 November 1, 2004 Both Longmont (Mile Hi) and Brush (Denver Skydivers) are good dropzones, and have something to offer. Ryoder is right - the scenery is better in Longmont, and there are more loads, typically. Groundpounder is also right - there are good vibes at Brush, and if you are spending nights at the DZ, it's easier to crash on the couches in Brush - you might have more trouble finding a place to sleep in Longmont. Both have King Air, but call Brush the day you are considering going out, to make sure they have the King Air. Heck, if you're going to be out there all week, try both places.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
CanuckInUSA 0 #5 November 1, 2004 QuoteHeck, if you're going to be out there all week, try both places Except that you forget that at this time of year the DZs are only open on weekends. I don't know what Brush has planned, but in past years Mile-Hi has been open Friday through Sunday during the Thanksgiving long weekend (closed on Thursday). But things can change so one needs to call ahead to both DZs. I'm not planning on being at either DZ that weekend though as I've made plans to attend the Turkey Boogie in Moab. flyangel2 2 #6 November 2, 2004 I too will be out of town that weekend, going to CSS for their big Thanksgiving celebration. I won't cast my vote for what DZ to go to. Those that know me, already know my voteMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.
