dbattman 0 #1 August 6, 2004 Our King Air is moving on to other, and hopefully better, things. We spent the last few weeks getting well acquainted with the Green Ghost and launching four-ways off the step. But, the silver lining has appeared! The Beech 99 has landed at Skydive Monroe for the next two weekends with it's big cabin and huge door. In two weeks (I believe) it is scheduled for turbine upgrades and it will be back faster then ever! Come out and help us end our season in style! AggieDave 6 #2 August 7, 2004 Yeah, its been "scheduled" for turbine upgrades since before Aggieland had the Beech 99. It needs it too, with -20s on it, we had to limit to 12-13 jumpers and it still only climbed at roughly 500-800ft per minute. Want the designs for the all steel mockup I welded together for it? We're keeping it since we can still use it for when we have s. otters in on occasion.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." ncjumpjunkie 0 #3 August 9, 2004 Who's BEECH 99 are you guys jumping? Are they looking for a King Air? If so I know where one is for Lease, Its fast as hell about 12 minutes to 14,000. Do you guys still have the cessna with the eyeball painted on the spinner? Its been a while since I was there but I hear nothing but good things!SONIC BEEF #1 BASE 708, NC BASE 3 SLI,IADI,AFFI.TIE.FAA Rigger, Single & Multi Commercial Pilot,CFI, CFII, MEI
dbattman 0 #4 August 9, 2004 The Beech is George Ireland's. Yes. it could be 2.5 the plane with upgrades. It did alright last weekend with 13 jumpers- 20 minute loads or so. Monroe has put it's King Air up for sale. If you know a buyer let them know that ours is for sale. Yes, Monroe needs a winter jumpship. I do not know what the DZO is planning. The big door would certainly be nice to keep for awhile. If you know a Northern DZ that needs a winter home for it's plane, pass it on. I cannot speak for the DZO's plans. This is the situation and that is all I know. I believe the 'eyeball' 182 was sold to the Aggie's. I thought I had read that it crashed last year. Apologies if I am incorrect. AggieDave 6 #5 August 9, 2004 Nope, cyclops wasn't crashed, it was a wide body 182 that was leased from another avaition company that got screwed (the A&P that did the 100hr and annual pencil whiped it, didn't check some important things, including the gasket that brought the plane down on takeoff). Cyclops was leased to us from an avation company specilizing in jumpships, they sold it after we got Gypsy. I know that Cyclops went to SD Houston for a while after we had it, but I'm not sure where it is now. It was a really cool plane with a really cool spinner.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
