JoeBobinNC 0 #1 June 28, 2004 I'm going to be on LI at the end of July to visit the family. I would like to make a few jumps while I'm up there and I am curious to know people's opinion on which of the two Long Island DZs would better suit my needs. I am a low timer who just recently earned my A license and I do not own my own gear. Thanks in advance for the input
Daizey 0 #2 June 28, 2004 It is my understanding that only skydive long island in calverton is the only DZ that'll let ya jump...the other DZ is purely tandem only. Ive never jumped there, but I have heard some good things from those that do... Where about are you going to be on LI? And for how long? If you get a chance i would highly suggest getting up to the ranch...its a little bit of a drive, but very well worth it! *daizey*
JoeBobinNC 0 #3 June 28, 2004 My family lives in Lindenhurst and I'll only be there for three or four days, so The Ranch may be a bit too far for me to travel, but I'll consider it, thanks. JoeBobinNC 0 #6 June 28, 2004 Ha, small world I guess, Yeah, I definitely will check out Skydive LI. My first non-Raeford skydive, I am very excited. It doesn't matter if a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
genoyamamoto 0 #7 June 29, 2004 I did a few jumps out at SD Long Island while I was out in that area for work. It's a nice place with some coolio people. They were running the caravan when I went. The DZO sent up the caravan light (7 or 8 people), that was sweeeet. It's at the old Grumman factory and has huge fields to land in. Look up Duncan when you go there, he's one of the TI's and a really cool guy. Have fun! Gotta go... plaything needs to spank me Feel the hate...
