samhussey 0 #2 February 10, 2004 Alas, our club hasn't affiliated to the BCPA yet, and none of the members are trained (until the end of this month!), but expect to see us at the next event!
yoink 321 #3 February 10, 2004 Aber's got a skydiving club?? Great... get everyone trained up and come along to the next event. Have you been registered with us before? I think there's a reduced rate for new clubs... Will
samhussey 0 #4 February 10, 2004 Im trying to sort the first training for the end of feb. I heard somewhere that there was a club a few years back, but all the committee graduated and no-one else wanted to run it. Then I came along and started it again! batbex 0 #5 February 10, 2004 yay! congrats you should try and get money off your sports union and see if their insurance covers you(and what conditions have to met for it to do so) oh oh - and get pretty t-shirts and hoodies made up, and committee(or boss-man, if its just you) t-shirts made up
samhussey 0 #6 February 10, 2004 Our union kinda sucks. They cant give us transport to the DZ (4 hours away!), and they wont give us any funding until next academic year (I was "too late" to apply this year). And I had to spend weeks trying to convince them to recognise us anyway, since their insurance doesn't cover us for skydiving. It took 4 weeks to explain to them about the BPA and members insurance. But all that is in the past now, and I'm looking at the local printers prices for hoodies and t-shirts and the like! By the way, when is the next BCPA event after Freshers 2? batbex 0 #7 February 11, 2004 Em Northerns? Scotsmeet? think both are May sort of time, should be info on the bcpa website and given the amount of info Will has at his finger tips - no doubt he'll tell you what planes will be there, the altitude and price of jumps as well as beer just as soon as he logs on
yoink 321 #8 February 11, 2004 Blimey.... preassure's on ... umm, next meet after valentines? Scots.. BCPA Scottish Regional Event Dates TBC @ Location TBA (this is in the pipeline - I'll post here as soon as it's been confirmed). BCPA Southerns Regional Event March 20th - 21st @ Netheravon BCPA Foreign Trip 2004 30th March - 15th April @ Perris and Elsinore, California, USA BCPA Northerns Regional Event May 1st - 2nd @ Hibaldstow As for hassles with the uni, feel free to drop me a line or even post here... part of what the BCPA does is try and get uni clubs recognised and improve funding for them. We've got a wealth of knowledge from people who have set up clubs previously, as well as fundraising ideas and how they handle their unions. Hopefully this year will see us being recognised by BUSA, and then the uni's will be unable to deny us funding Fingers crossed. Will
