RippedCord 0 #1 January 12, 2004 There is a 10 Way Speed Meet being held at Elsinore on Saturday Jan 17. The website presupposes alot of knowledge about competitions, and I have some questions: 1. According to the website "Part 55 rules will be in effect in regards to grips and separation." What in the world are "Part 55 rules?" 2. What's a No-Show No-Grip exit? 3. Round One mentions a "3rd point." Are there any rules with regard to what formations must be formed at each point, or can the team decide that a grip release and re-grip in a standard round formatio with no movement is a point all in itself? Has anyone done this before? What are my chances of getting on a team if I just show up on Saturday morning? AMDG
skybytch 273 #2 January 12, 2004 QuoteWhat's a No-Show No-Grip exit? Just one of the funnest exits you can do. No show = no part of any jumpers body can be outside the aircraft. No grip = ya can't hold on to anyone on the way out the door. Cordura burns on everybody's chins are the mark of a good "no show no grip" exit.
kallend 2,148 #3 January 12, 2004 Well, the no show no grip exit is easy - the team may not have grips on exit (no pieces chunked out), and all must be behind the plane of the door prior to exit. The clock starts when the first part of the first person crosses the plane of the door. For USPA competitions, a line is drawn on the floor of the plane and all must be behind it. As for grip rules - legal arm grips are anywhere from shoulder to fingers, and legal leg grips are anywhere from thigh to toes (not leg straps). Part 55 - sounds like the FARs, doesn't it? Maybe they are referring to Part 5 of the USPA Competition Manual which defines RW competition rules.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. dgskydive 0 #4 January 12, 2004 To bad your eyes aren't better already you could have come out and done the rumbleseat meet on Saturday at Perris. You stand a better chance of getting on a team if you call over and see if they have a sing up sheet. Then They can put you on a team that morning if there are enough people. It should be pretty fun. I might be going.Dom
rjf98 0 #5 January 14, 2004 The points that are required aren't on the website, but they have been posted (at the DZ). Probably some LO will be putting together a pickup team, so come on out and have a good time.
