I wonder what's going on in Eloy now

They are all probably just sitting around discussing the mentality of the sport of skydiving in contrast with humanity's frailty and insignificance in the Universe:P

What would you be doing?;):)

My understanding is that as long as the dive is complete, held for at least 3 seconds, and is essentially the same "picture" that was presented before takeoff, then its all good. (I worked ground crew and had a little contact with the judges during the 2000 attempts at SDC) The judges should not be too fussy about inside/outside grips, or even whether it is exactly slot perfect. (like if for some reason divers 297 and 298 experience traffic problems and end up in each others slot)

Congrats to all who participated. Finally, the elusive 300 way! Wow!

It might take a little while for the FAI to make it "official" but they would never have made the announcement unless they had reviewed the videos and were certain it was complete!

By the way, there is another rule. All of the participants have to stay alive for at least another 24 hours in order for the record to be "official." Kind of morbid, but still true as far as I know......

Ahhhh. Now I can relax! The tension all the way over here in Colorado was intense, and just about the time that I would say I have to post something about my anxiety, flyangel would beat me to it! ]

Sorry Mustard, I was just so nervous about the jump. Having been on big ways, I know all the bad stuff that can happen. Wow, I'm so glad they got it and everyone is okay.

It's all been said before, but since I'm afraid of doing even a 20 way, I am terribly in awe of the accomplishment these great skydivers made today! Way to go guys and gals!! B|B|

Freekin' Yeehaw!!!

Got an e-mail about it at work and I went hopping around telling everyone there about it. It took awhile to register with my wuffo crowd and I couldn't wait to share it with skydivers who understand.

Looks like there's a group of my Russian friends in WA who are already drinking in honor of their comrades right now!

I've got two huge pics of the unofficial 297-way and official 282-way hung in my house. Looks like they need to move over now! B|

Congratulations to the entire team! Awe just doesn't describe it...

What is really awesome is the thing is bigger than a football field...can you just imagine looking across the formation at ALL those stinking skydivers...nothing like having 300 of your closest friends sharing the same airspace....wonder what kind of radar signature the thing was flashing to ATC???....Gotta go call DD to find out more right now....

Dave,

I think the idea is they want the record dives to be "safe" as in not taking it too low or taking extraordinary risks just to get the record. So, yeah, kind of morbid, but there is a reason behind it. I know that was the rule 4 years ago when they got the 246 way at SDC, and I know it was the rule 2 years ago as well.

Thats what I was wondering. Have the judges confirmed. And hear is a question. Does it matter if you have an inside leg grip, when you should of had the outside leg grip. I know that 4-way does not matter, so what about large formation dives?

Yeah, and does a block move for a 300 way count as 2??:D

Congratulations to the 300 way TEAM!
