billvon 3,107 #1 December 15, 2002 We made four jumps today, attempting a 328 way. The first jump looked promising, but the second and third got worse and worse. The fourth actually looked a bit better (all but one wacker looked good, but the one bad one was a disaster.) It became clear that people were just running out of energy, so they called it after the last jump. Looks like the 300 way will stand until Thailand in two years. Afterwards some of us San Diegans had dinner at Eva's while the 'official' banquet happened at the Holiday Inn. I caught the tail end of that and said goodbye to some people. Tomorrow we may make some 'fun' jumps (if a pickup 150 way can be called fun) and then it will be time to make the long drive back. Some unofficial records we set today: Largest attempt (328) Largest number of people docked on a formation (316) Largest all-otter formation flight (15)

murrays 0 #3 December 15, 2002 Bill, Thank-you for taking the time to post and keeping us all updated on the attempts throughout the week. Congratulations on the record and the unofficial records set. Do you have any idea whether any of the following information is available? Highest number of jumps by a participant? Lowest number of jumps? Average number of jumps? Median number of jumps? Total number on jumps by on the record? Million plus?? Murray

Vallerina 2 #5 December 15, 2002 Congratulations, Bill! Thanks for the updates! I can't even imagine what the conversations are like there: "Well, we got the 300-way, what do you guys wanna do today?" "I dunno...I guess we can try for 328...nothing better to do." So, how long is it going to take you to recover???? Also, I feel very fortunate to have been able to jump with you and one or two other people that participated on it. Nothing like learning from undeniably the best! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

diverdriver 7 #7 December 16, 2002 QuoteLargest all-otter formation flight (15) Bill, sorry but we never had an all otter formation. When the skyvan went down we brought in a King Air 100 into the formation. So, the most otters we had was 14 on Saturday's attempts. We added a second otter from Elsinore flying left trail in between me and the farthest left otter. He did great considering we had a lot to learn ourselves all week. But you know, 14 otters is still a shit load of otters! And congratulations to you Bill and all for doing an excellent job in the sky. It makes all the work with the planes worth while. I'm exhausted and need a break. I know all you guys have got to be just as worn out.Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

dreamsville 0 #11 December 16, 2002 Bill, I guess the next few jumps may seem especially spacious or very lonely, depending upon your point of view. Where is everybody?Harry I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. It will be nice to not have 30 people in front of me when I turn to track. Since the outer wackers were generally lighter than I was and could outfloat me during the track, it would sort of rain jumpers all around me after I opened.
