kingmonkeeking 0 #1 December 25, 2002 So assuming no wind what is my forward speed at full glide and does this relate directly to my speed with and against wind. I weigh 150 and have a Hornet 170.

ernokaikkonen 0 #4 December 25, 2002 >So assuming no wind what is my forward speed at full glide At a wingloading of 0.88 I'd say 25mph is in excess. My guess is around 10-15 mph. > and does this relate directly to my speed with Yes, groundspeed = airspeed + windspeed... >and against wind. ... and groundspeed = airspeed - windspeed Do a search in "Swooping and canopy control", this issue and many others relating to this one have been covered many times. pilotdave 0 #5 December 25, 2002 My friend recently took one of those handheld wind meters along with him. Under his fairly lightly loaded Stilleto 170, it read about 35 mph in full flight. I'm sure there's all kinds of error in the measurement, but thats a LOT faster than I would have expected. Dave
