Collapsable bridle

Seriously do you have to pack the pilot any differently..

You have to "cock" a kill line collapsible before packing it. Other than that, no differences in packing.

I was also wondering if anyone knew of a general skydiving glossary on the web.

Here's one. There's loads of valuable info on this website and in these forums; take some time and search, you'll learn a lot.

I think you are referring to a collapsible PC. There are two types, a kill line and a bungee. The kill line has a thin line in the center of the bridle, connected between the canopy and the top of the PC, which is put under tension when the parachute leaves the bag. This collapses the PC after the main is out. The second type has a piece of elastic that is constantly trying to collapse the PC. Above a certain airspeed (i.e. in freefall) the force on the PC is enough to overcome the elastic and it inflates, but once you slow down the elastic is strong enough to collapse the PC.

There are also retractible bridles, used for CRW, but I suspect that's not what you were talking about.

Hi all,
Could anyone explain to me in layman's terms what the different is between a collapsable and other types of bridle. I guess one collapses.....;)

Relative workshop makes a colapsable bridle in a way, the kill line is competely internal and there is a little extra material on the bridal to let it contract to allow shrinkage. but other than that I think you are talking about a collapsable pilot chute, and you dont have to pack it any different, but you do need to set it before you pack it.
