Shark 0 #1 January 22, 2003 In light of the recent incident, do you know if they pulled the parachute scene from the movie? It's scheduled to be released 7 March.
keskeie 0 #2 January 22, 2003 Could you be a little more specific? I have no idea what the movie is even about, let alone what the parachute scene is about.... (of course, this means I won't be able to answer your question, but I'm still curious enough to want to know what's being talked about). We were never feeling bored because we were never being boring. -Zelda Fitzgerald
PhillyKev 0 #3 January 22, 2003 QuoteFilming: Production started in late March, 2002 in Oahu, Hawaii (subbing for Africa). Filming is tentatively scheduled to wrap in late June, 2002. (7/12/02) And indeed, it did. (8/1/02) Army Archerd of "Variety" reports that there were another two days of filming, on July 26th and 27th, on the U.S.S. Harry Truman in the Atlantic Ocean, for a sequence involving Tom Skerritt as Willis' commanding officer. (11/4/02) There was additional second unit stunt work being done in October on the California coast recently, involving a parachuting sequence that resulted in two of the paratroopers landing in the water, and one of them, being found dead after being missing for five days. Shark 0 #4 January 22, 2003 Well, it was originally in the Incidents section. One of the stuntmen died during the filming of the parachute scene off the coast of central California. The movie features Bruce Willis.
keskeie 0 #5 January 22, 2003 Oh, that movie. I read about it in incidents but had forgotten the name of the movie....thanks for the refresh. And I still have no idea about your question. wmw999 2,584 #6 January 22, 2003 I doubt they'd pull the stunt because someone died. When "The Right Stuff" was made, Joe Svec died on the parachute scene. I don't think they even had an "in memory of," just the usual credit. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
PhillyKev 0 #7 January 22, 2003 Just watched a preview. Didn't see any skydiving, but tons of footage of them in helicopter and planes and over the ocean. I'm guessing it'll still be in. I don't think that tragedy was publicized enough in the general media to make Sony change the movie.
keskeie 0 #8 January 22, 2003 Exactly They used the stunt that Harry O'Conner (do I have the name right?) died making for Triple X, though at least they dedicated the movie to him...We were never feeling bored because we were never being boring. -Zelda Fitzgerald

livendive 8 #10 January 24, 2003 QuoteExactly They used the stunt that Harry O'Conner (do I have the name right?) died making for Triple X, though at least they dedicated the movie to him... Unfortunately, they even included the footage of him hitting the bridge. I have no idea why, as that actually runs counter to the intended effect (him sliding under the bridge). They should have clipped it a half second or more ealier. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
bbarnhouse 0 #11 January 24, 2003 Quoteblue skies mike We miss Mike more than can put into words. Although I normally wouldn't go out of my way to see this movie, I will do so to honor my friend. BB
keskeie 0 #12 January 24, 2003 Really? I saw the movie, I thought they had cut it out, maybe I blinked. That is in bad taste, though... We were never feeling bored because we were never being boring. -Zelda Fitzgerald
