SkymonkeyONE 4 #26 February 13, 2003 Still, if you want that A-license, you gotta get the card filled out. True, you may be able to jump at some dropzones without a license and a USPA card (assuming USA here), even the great majority of "non-USPA" dropzones require USPA membership and a license. It's the third-party insurance, etc. Chuck
Jiggs 0 #27 February 18, 2003 Sorry Squeak but that comment about Brels is crap, personally I think the APF system is far better. The US system is far easier but at the end of the A license that is it. It can lead to some real bozos if they have not had some coaching/putting in some effort to really learn. With Brels you will be a better flier, knowledge is the key to this sport. The more you can get the earlier on in jumping the better off you will be. (and less money you will waste) That said, Brel's do take a chunk of cash, I was in more or less the same position, I couldn't wait for them to be finished. The idea behind them is to mitigate some of the gap from an A license so that you can approach 4ways with safety and something resembling compentence."Don't blame malice for what stupidity can explain." ostrich 0 #28 February 20, 2003 A coach rating was one of the best steps I ever took. Its fun, immensely rewarding, and a great way to see if you like teaching this stuff. As a coach, you get to be the first person someone deliberately docks on. I never get over the great smiles students have on their faces after their first swoop and dock.
