ladyskydiver 0 #2 February 24, 2003 hmmmm....advice....that's a very tricky slope to go down. I'll explain how I chose what I was going to do and that might help. I've done 63 jumps of which only 1 has been a tandem and that was jump #12. When I chose what I was going to do, my thoughts were that I wanted to be 100% responsible for anything that happened to me. So, I chose AFF, because I had to deploy my own parachute. I had to pay attention to what was going on. I had to land my parachute (albeit with a person on the radio telling me when to flare). When I did my tandem, I did it, because I was trying to talk some people into jumping and since they were a little bit freaked about the concept, I told them to do a tandem. But, I would not tell them to do one without doing one first. So, on my 12th jump, I did a tandem. I had a blast, but having done AFF prior to the tandem, I was a little bit freaked as I didn't have my own parachute - someone else was now added to the mixture. For me...I love being in the air - doing a solo or RW. So, for you to choose, it's all a matter of preference and what you are comfortable with. Good luck in your choice. Either way, you'll be in the air and loving it. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile.
