The Army Accident.. Why?

I am sure there will be an investigation, and the weather observations and forecasts will be part of it.

I'm sure you're correct.

I'm pretty sure that there would be wind data available from the track itself, but I don't know if they actually record that or not.

I would also imagine that some of the NASCAR crews record weather data.

It does make me glad that I the wind meter I bought has a recording function in it.

We still don't have all the information but I still think gusts of 40 mph don't suddendly happen after you decide to jump in 20mph winds. .

I live in Raleigh North Carolina and was at CSS on Sunday.. there was at LEAST a 20 mile an hour differential between the average wind and the high gusts.. it was a steady 20 mph all day and we had gusts up to over 45 mph every couple of minutes. It was one of the most, if not the most, bizarre days as far as winds I have ever seen. Needless to say, none of us jumped.

I'm unclear on your point here. Everyone concedes that strong gusts occur and the smart money says stay on the ground in 20G40 conditions. Point is, do gusty conditions arrive unexpectedly, out of the blue, so to speak?
