Just wondering, if I became buddies with someone who had a jumpable plane are there any FAA rules that would keep me from making a few jumps?? riggerrob 643 #3 March 17, 2003 Start by buddying up to the local airport manager and when you get him drunk enough ask him to write you a letter giving you permission to land on his airport. Secondly, file a NOTAM with the FAA warning other pilots where and when you plan to jump. Hint, before you file the NOTAM, ask a local commercial pilot to show you the map and explain all the controlled airspace in your neighborhood. Mixoligist 0 #4 March 17, 2003 I had that same question. My friend has a 182 and always offers a ride up. Of course this always happens in my bar late at night. I would love a ride to 5000 over the beach by my house.The beach has no traffic there and people are few and far between so landing is wide open.I've always assumed that ethier myself or the pilot would pay if we got caught so I've never planned anything. Will authorities take your rig ??? Arrest you upon landing?? I can see myself making a great jump and awesome landing and then having to deal with a bunch of BS. Till I know for sure I'll just stick with the DZ Bob ( I just read all the FAA rules governing this and it seems it can be done) .................................. meridianjumper 0 #5 March 17, 2003 I have a small grass strip community place down the road. Less than 1/4 of a mile. I have been going up there and talking with different ultra-light pilots and all their answers are the same. "I have no idea what the plane will do when you take 190 pounds off of it in flight."
