Hooknswoop 19 #1 March 23, 2003 I am curious as to the accuracy of the DZ listings here on DZ.com. How accurate are the listings for DZ's you frequent? Are the aircraft listed really there? Are the prices correct?, etc. Hook
Casch 0 #2 March 23, 2003 Well, as far as aircraft go....No. At least not always. I know Kapowsin leases it's planes and shares them with SDU or something. The day I went out to jump the Otter for the BEER time, it was down in Cali for the ladies in pink (I think it was cali anyway). Prices I think are fairly accurate... AggieDave 6 #3 March 23, 2003 Kathy keeps SD Aggieland's listing very up to date. Show's a commitment to excellence that is prevalent throughout the DZ.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
sangiro 26 #4 March 23, 2003 Derek, Some DZO's update and change their info almost weekly. Others have probably forgotten they listed their DZ here in the first place. It all depends on the dedication of whomever listed the DZ. I can tell you that there is a lot of activity and updating going on.Safe swoops Sangiro
narcimund 0 #5 March 23, 2003 I keep up the Eugene Skydivers in Oregon listing. It's accurate. Lots of others change periodically. It's almost impossible to tell which ones are fresh unless there is a "NEW" tag which seems to mean "Changed within the last so many days" I'm sure there are a number of listings which are abandoned. It would be nice to see a "Last updated on..." on listings, wouldn't it? First Class Citizen Twice Over
PhreeZone 20 #6 March 23, 2003 For the most part my DZ's is correct. They have listed a lot of planes that are leased out so they are only arround for a few weeks through out the whole year instead of every week. The prices are right on though.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
GeorgeOrwell 0 #7 March 23, 2003 I jump at STC (Skydive Twin Cities)and it's seems to be up to date.-------------------------------------------------- If your not jumping your not living LEARN TO LIVE (L2L)
Hooknswoop 19 #8 March 23, 2003 Cool, seems most are kept up to date. Of the DZ's I know, most have accurate listings. I like the "last updated on....." idea. Thanks, Hook
slotperfect 7 #9 March 23, 2003 The listing for Raeford Parachute Center is correct. Of course, the husband and wife team that are DZOs are both DZ.com members (TonyT and Raefordite), which helps with the accuracy! Arrive Safely John
fudd 0 #10 March 23, 2003 I see that Østre Æra in Norway is not entirely up to date. Here is what I know so far. -Dropzone open every day from May 10th to September 13th this year. -Last year a new bunkhouse was buildt. -Jump price 119 NOK - 149 NOK to 13000' (Depening on when) -Planes: AN-28 (sometimes x2 ) -There will be a gear shop there this summer.(Sky Design) -At various times there will be organisers and coaches (both FF and FS). Sometimes even for free Some of the happeings this summer are: 5-6 July: Poker Run 5-20 July: Boogie!!! 16-20 July: Big ways (2x an-28!) 21-25 July: Wingsuit week. 26-27 July: Norwegian nude jump records attempsAlso there will be USPA AFF-I, and tandem master courses. I would recomend contacting them on info@fallskjerm.no for more info and prices if that's of interest. There are some english info on their web pages I would recomend to come and visit us. If you do, drop me a pm and let me know. Last summer (mai-september) there were made a total of 23 650 jumps at Østre Æra. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
sangiro 26 #11 March 23, 2003 Quote "Changed within the last so many days" That's a good idea. I've added the date the record was added and last modified to the top right corner of each detailed page. The fact that a listing has not been updated for a while (or ever) doesn't of course not mean the information is inaccurate...Safe swoops Sangiro
ernokaikkonen 0 #12 March 24, 2003 QuoteI've added the date the record was added and last modified to the top right corner of each detailed page. This gets maybe a bit complex, but how about "last modified/confirmed"? Maybe a reminder email could be automatically be sent to the person who entered the data, say, every 6 or 12 months?
