fudd 0 #1 March 23, 2003 I tried exiting a C-206 and going direct into bootie fly. Didn't work so great. Anyone else been doing this? I tumbled 1000 feet, gave up, went to belly and up on the booties, that worked. Any tips, I'm just learning to bootie fly....and fun it is There are only 10 types of people in the world. meatmissile 0 #2 March 23, 2003 Is a "bootie fly" a stand-up as I know it? In that case I have also never been able to get there directly after exit. My theory is that the relative wind changes direction too much in the first 6 seconds or so. Would be interesting to try it from a balloon to see if that theory is correct. -- ZZZzzzz.... skybytch 273 #4 March 23, 2003 Ah.... since I didn't have booties I just called that knee flying. Never tried it right out the door. From my experience it works well for keeping down with big guys on wooden skyboards. Pretty easy to fly and falls fast.
Lolie 0 #5 March 24, 2003 There's an article about knee flying at Dale Stuart's website, but it says it won't work well with booties. Still, you might find something useful in the article anyway. tosca 0 #6 March 24, 2003 I´ve tried it a couple of times, it´s fun, isn´t it?Do you know how to do a head-up exit from a c-206? I do a normal head-up exit, but in a knee-flying position. The drag from the booties is pretty big, so for me it was more difficult than a sit-exit. I try to think breath, relax, be heavy. Wide arms help me keep balance, straight back (no arching) and keep heading, booties into the relative wind. Ask someone that jump after you to film the exit. Maybe you can improve your exits by getting some advise about knee-flying in general at this site have fun!!

riggerrob 643 #8 March 24, 2003 I have done a bunch of stable knee fly exits from Cessna 182s and was able to hold a heading for 30 seconds or more to observe freefall students. Sorry, but I have not tried it out of a cargo door Cessna 206U. Finally, I do not even pretend to be any good at sit-flying. I spend more time corking that sitting. Hah! Hah! Rdutch 0 #9 March 24, 2003 The Norgie 4 way team has video of entire jumps with them doing block's and random's completly on their knee's. Also if anyone has the Deland Majik video of the Russian meet they have a few jumps where they are bootie flying turning points, it looks pretty cool. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
