ralu 0 #1 March 12, 2003 I post here because style is not listed in "skydiving disciplines" and I need some advice from a pro. I want to reduce the execution time and I need some tips. thanks, ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....
PhreeZone 20 #2 March 12, 2003 I'd get in contract with Cheryl Sterns then. Her or Ted Strong are the two that I'd contact if I was into style and needed to ask some basic questions. How long are you holding your dive? How tucked are you remaining duing the turns?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
airtwardo 7 #3 March 12, 2003 If you are just starting out in Style... The easiest way to shave time is to start your turns with your body at a slight head high / legs low angle. instead on a perfect flat, parallel "frog" position... Keeping your turns quick by pulling your arms and legs in as close to your body as possible...as fast as possible once the turn is started. The slight head high frog will also set you up for a much faster backloop... Fall rate is important...the faster you fall the faster your turns will be. Wear big gloves to start, the give you more rudder control. What are your times (in seconds) now? ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
Kinaa 0 #4 March 12, 2003 How do you do your style set? From "frog", by pulsations or from tucked position?
ralu 0 #5 March 13, 2003 the time it is around 12 sec (without penalties). I start after 8-9 sec of freefall, in tucked position, but the loop is stretching me up... ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....
airtwardo 7 #6 March 13, 2003 What kind or rig are you using? Is it allowing for a full tuck? Knees on your chin? ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

JohnRich 4 #8 March 18, 2003 Quote I post here because style is not listed in "skydiving disciplines" and I need some advice from a pro. Look for the booklet called "Classic Challenge", by Zlatko Beric. It's the only thing I've ever known to be published on how to do Style. It is split into two parts; one is Style, and the other is Accuracy. You might find it at Para Gear or the Skydiving Magazine bookstore. James Hayhurst was working on a "how to" video for Style at one time, but I never saw any completed tape come out of it.
JohnRich 4 #9 March 18, 2003 QuoteI post here because style is not listed in "skydiving disciplines" and I need some advice Are you interested in doing a Style series to get a D-license, or are you interested in serious competitive old-fashioned Style competition? The former should be fairly easy to accomplish with an RW body position. The latter requires some radical changes... Give us some specifics on what your goal is, and we can tailor our comments accordingly.

It's very difficult to buy something when you are from Romania, nobody likes your credit card, but this summer I'll go in the UK for a business trip and I will have the book on my list. thanks ralu what would be a woman without her dreams.... Kinaa 0 #12 March 19, 2003 If I found this book here in Croatia to buy (Z. Beric is Croat) I'll buy it for you. Skies I.P.
JohnRich 4 #13 March 21, 2003 QuoteIt's very difficult to buy something when you are from Romania, nobody likes your credit card... If you want to learn style, you can't give up that easy. ParaGear has the book in stock; it is item B1898, for $15 U.S. See http://www.paragear.com/ They'll probably be willing to work with you on a foreign credit card. For example, they might want to wait until they've received the credit, before shipping the book. But that would still get you the book, and a lot sooner than waiting until your U.K. trip, where you still might not find it. Give them a try and see what they say. Their phone number is 847-679-5905, or you can contact them by e-mail via their web site.
