Islandcool 0 #1 March 30, 2003 Soooo there I was...... Hanging out at the DZ having a few beers and one of the guys pops in a video with all kinds of memorable moments. In one of these it's a lvl 1 jump and nothing is going right. Bad exit and both jumpmasters loose the student. He is tumbling and the go after him. They get to him and stabilize him. They start going through the routine. I'm sure the student is pretty shaken at this point. I guess student says the wrong alt. Then couldn't find the toggle for the pilot chute. So it's time to pull and the JM puts the students hand on the toggle. Student pulls but is holding on to the pilot chute. I was cracking up. I don't know why but this is starting to look like the funniest thing I've seen. He releases the piolt chute but now the D-bag is stuck in the container. The other JM pulls the bag out and everything is ok after that. The video ends so I didn't get to see the landing. I hope that went a lot better. I swear there is a shot where the JM looks at the camera and has a look like..."this sucks". I know there were lots of scary moments in that video and I shouldn't laugh but it was just on of those things where what could possibly go wrong next. payback462 0 #2 March 30, 2003 yeah, watching videos like that make me think that i NEVER want to be an AFF instructor and it gives me a lot of respect for all the instructors who deal with studets like that and get their flailing asses stable again. CornishChris 5 #3 March 31, 2003 My AFF instructor showed me the video of his AFF instructors course and that was very funny. The Cheif instructor is the "student" and he does just about everything he can wrong to see how they deal - including sliding out the door while the instructor is spotting as he had let go of him for a second. Very entertaining but also reassuring that these guys had been put through their paces so much. CJP Gods don't kill people. dreamsville 0 #4 March 31, 2003 I did a video for a guy who wanted to send one to his daughter for her class. He was a bit unstable (did a couple of turns in wobbly fashion and didn't look so current). At pull time, he grabs the hackey, pulls it, and hangs onto it for at least a second as if to say "Here is the pilot chute.". He doesn't seem to be looking right at me, but I motion for him to get rid of it, and finally he releases it. The rest of the jump is uneventful. |I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane.
