trigger 0 #1 April 19, 2003 Hi,here in the sunny UK,we have a rating which is required for 'B'license after 50jumps,it's called CF1 and in short is a series of briefings on jumpmaster responsibilities, spotting+basic canopy control and practical exercises,5xpre-declared landings in the peas and spotting from 10k.[Unfornately,with the increase in incidents with fellow jumpers injuring or[in the extreme]killing themselves due to low turns there has been some speculation/talk of introducing a CF2 rating.[Although,i believe most injuries/deaths are the product of unintentional low turns i.e getting into wind too late, does anyone have any ideas as to what could be required of such a rating and will it have any affect in reducing said unintentional occurrences
gus 1 #2 April 20, 2003 I think the rating you're talking about is IC1 (Individual Canopy 1?), CF1 is a CReW thing I think. So if you're talking about CF2 then it only really applies to the CRew dawgs, if you're talking about IC2 then that's a different matter. What would it be for? What couldn't you do without an IC2? trigger 0 #3 April 20, 2003 I stand corrected.you're right it is IC1 and the possibility of introducing a IC2 rating that i was ranting about.Too much booze me thinks!
Tonto 1 #4 April 22, 2003 Hey. Sounds like a good idea. I can't beleive that we have very little other than peer pressure to prevent some jumpers from buying (and jumping) stuff that they are going to hurt themselves under. The UK seems to be hugely overregulated as it is though, so you guys will probably get it first! tIt's the year of the Pig.
