babo78 0 #1 April 29, 2003 hey all. wuts goin on? i'm a noob and i'm thinking of enrolling as student diver. i was wondering how much would the total cost be, for completing the AFF program for A license (I have a rough estimate of $2 k or so?). which is the lowest license for solo jump? i'm a noob and i have completed one tandem jump, can't wait till do it again but as student to be a diver! i'd greatly appreciate any tips and helps! btw, a big problem for me is DZ that can offer trainig program near my loc. i'm kinda deep in LI and the nearest loc. that offer training in about 4 hr roundtrip drive for me. are there other DZs not listed on this website that offer training? thanks! BoobieCootie 0 #2 April 30, 2003 Try here. Kapowsin is not listed here, but if you want to drive to WA state, we'd be more than happy to train you
quade 4 #3 April 30, 2003 Your profile says you're from Deer Park, New York, but in your last post you said "LI". Is that a typo? In anycase, you might want to check out the drop zone locator at the United States Parachute Association by CLICKING HERE.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Casch 0 #4 April 30, 2003 You're not too far off with an estimate of $2K, infact you over estimated. Well, that is if you are a good student and don't fail too many AFF levels. I didn't go through AFF, but at my DZ, the full AFF course levels 1 through 7 cost $1,225 total. That's 7 jumps and you would basically be "off student status" meaning you are allowed to jump on you're own at THAT DZ and you get the "up-jumper" or experienced jumper prices. In order to get you're "A" license which allows you to jump at any DZ in the US, you need to complete a minimum of 20 skydives. So yeah, after buying all the jumps and then the low-cost gear you will need such as Altimeter, helmet, goggles, gloves and a jumpsuit, you are looking at between $1700 and $2000 to get licensed. By the way, every DZ has it's own policies. The program I mentioned above is the program run at [url "http://www.skydivenet.com/kapowsin/students.htm"]Kapowsin Air Sports[url]. Check with your nearest USPA DZ to find out what their student policies are.

Skydive Long Island is only about 40 miles from Deer Park. I haven't jumped there in ten years so I don't know what it's like now, but I believe they still have a student program. Casch 0 #8 April 30, 2003 Ahhh yes I forget about the BEER since it doesn't yet apply to me! There is something to be said about not being in the "Legal Majority" Yes if you are 21+, there will be around $300 worth of beer owed by the time you earn your "A"
